Kevin Feige Reveals The Most Important MCU Movie Since Avenger: Endgame

May 16, 2023

The first ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe marked an unprecedented era in superhero cinema. Under the guidance of Kevin Feige, the MCU took the world by storm, bringing all its stories to an epic conclusion in Avengers: Endgame, currently the second-highest-grossing film in global box office history.

Since then, the franchise has continued searching to expand its universe and bring new stories to its audience, although it seems to have failed to attract them in the same way it did until Endgame.

However, that may be because there hasn’t been another event this significant since the epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga. Except, perhaps, the union of the 3 Spider-Man in No Way Home.

But everything is about to change with the next release in the franchise, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will start phase 5 and new possibilities within the MCU, particularly within the multiverse.

Why Is Ant-Man 3 So Important?

The third installment of the saga starring Paul Rudd seems to be a turning point for the future of the MCU. In fact, as Kevin Feige revealed to Rotten Tomatoes, it’s the most important movie since Avengers: Endgame:

“Of all of our films we’ve done since Endgame, this is the one [Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania] that connects most to the bigger picture, and that’s what I’m excited about. Phase 4, we introduced a lot of fun great characters on Disney+ and in theaters, all of whom will be very important going forward. But now, finally kicking off Phase 5, people are going to start to see the bigger picture as we get towards the next Avengers film. So I’m very excited for that part.”

Part of Quantumania’s relevance lies with its villain, Kang the Conqueror. The character played by Jonathan Majors will be the main enemy of the protagonists throughout the new phases, leading the way towards Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will reunite the heroes to save the world and the multiverse once again.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will debut in theaters on Friday, Feb. 17. Joining Rudd, the movie will see the return of Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Douglas, along with the debut of Kathryn Newton as Scott’s daughter Cassie, who will have a huge part in the future of the MCU as her own hero.
