Ezra Miller Makes Controversial Appearance at The Flash Premiere, Praises Director Andy Muschietti
Sep 26, 2023
Controversial actor Ezra Miller made a rare public appearance at the premiere for the DC outing The Flash last night, and made their first comments regarding the standalone superhero movie. Appearing at the premiere in Los Angeles, Miller walked the red carpet (via Deadline) alongside The Flash co-stars Ben Affleck and Sasha Calle, and was introduced by director Andy Muschietti.
“I love you, maestro,” Miller said of Muschietti, in the first comments they have made regarding The Flash since the multiple controversies and legal issues. “I think you’re amazing, and I think your work is monumental.”
Miller has been absent from marketing for The Flash, with even the trailers and clips largely putting the focus on Batman Returns star Michael Keaton’s return as The Dark Knight and the debut of Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Miller has been at the center of multiple controversies of late, with the actor being charged with felony burglary in Vermont last year. Miller was first recorded choking a woman in Iceland, and they have since been accused of committing disorderly conduct, harassment, and assault, with many questioning the release of The Flash amid such circumstances.
Despite all this, it has been revealed that The Flash was never in danger of being canceled. A script for a sequel has also reportedly been written, with director Andy Muschietti rejecting the idea of recasting Miller. “If [a sequel] happens, yes. I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did,” the filmmaker said. “The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.”

The Flash Will Bring the Current DC Cinematic Universe to an End
Warner Bros. Pictures
Worlds collide in The Flash when the superhero uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian — albeit not the one he’s looking for.
The Flash stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash alongside Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, and Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as alternate versions of Batman.
If certain rumors and leaks are to be believed, it is unlikely that Miller will return as The Flash in any future DC outings, with the multiversal madness expected to bring the current DC cinematic universe to and end and make way for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s recalibrated DCU.
The Flash is scheduled be released on June 16.
