The Hit Superhero Series Makes A Nov Return

Oct 16, 2023

Given the chaotic state of both Marvel and DC Comics franchises, it’s increasingly looking like Prime Video is becoming a welcome place for counterprogramming when it comes to the mainstream superhero genre. The streaming service has already tailor-made mature superhero shows such as “The Boys,” “Gen V,” and “Invincible,” with a satirical edge for an audience that might want a bit more than just flashy CGI destruction and convoluted Multiverse cameos.

Over the weekend, at New York Comic Con, Prime Video released a new trailer for “Invincible.” The footage has some highlights about how teenage superhero Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, is dealing with the revelation that his father, Omni-Man, is actually part of a collective of evil conquering aliens and isn’t the heroic figure that he idolized growing up after a severe beat-down at the end of season one. With Mark’s recovery seemingly finished, he’s now looking to return to the life of a hero and all the complexities that come with that choice, along with new threats beyond his destructive father.
The comic the show is based on hails from Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”), Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley. Speaking of Kirkman, he’s already updated fans on the current status of the third season to ComicBook, revealing he’s seen the animatics of “every episode” already, which means things are moving along nicely.
Here is the show’s logline via PrimeVideo:
The story revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age—except his father is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet. Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season One, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it.
Returning to voice established characters from last season include Steven Yeun, with Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Chris Diamantopoulos, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Seth Rogen, and J.K. Simmons. Some of the newcomers to the voice cast consist of Sterling K. Brown, Peter Cullen, Rob Delaney, Calista Flockhart, Phil LaMarr, Luke MacFarlane, Tatiana Maslany, Scott McNairy, Jay Pharoah, Ella Purnell, Tim Robinson, Ben Schwartz, Rhea Seehorn, Lea Thompson, Paul F. Tompkins, and Shantel VanSanten.
“Invincible” returns next month and will include four episodes that will be dropped every week starting November 3. You can watch that brand-new footage teasing some impressive elements of the upcoming season in the trailer below, including some of those aforementioned new additions to the voice cast.
