Debuts This November On Netflix

Oct 16, 2023

“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” wasn’t a box office banger, but the Toronto-set comic book movie eventually got a lot of attention post-release thanks to the popular manga it was based on, a fun soundtrack, and a visually striking throwback tie-in brawler video game. The original movie set in a video game fantasy world featured a stellar cast of rising young talent that eventually joined the Marvel and “Star Wars” franchises. Netflix is now behind a reunion of sorts with an animated show incarnation, “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off,” that will debut on November 17.
The streaming giant has dropped a brand new trailer over the weekend as it even incorporates a very familiar tune from the “Mortal Kombat” movie to help establish the video game influence on the action-packed love story.

Netflix has provided an official synopsis:
Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, and discovers he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. But this time, things get even more complicated. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” revisits and reimagines the beloved cult classic, taking Ramona Flowers, her evil exes, Scott, and his friends off on a mysterious new action-packed journey to find love.
Edgar Wright, who directed and co-wrote the live-action feature film, is back as an executive producer.
It’s been impressive that the new series was able to reunite the original film cast to reprise their roles, including Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), Satya Bhabha (Matthew Patel), Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells), Chris Evans (Lucas Lee), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim), Brie Larson (Envy Adams), Alison Pill (Kim Pine), Aubrey Plaza (Julie Powers), Brandon Routh (Todd Ingram), Jason Schwartzman (Gideon Graves), Johnny Simmons (Young Neil), Mark Webber (Stephen Stills), Mae Whitman (Roxie Richter), and Ellen Wong (Knives Chau).
Executive Producers/Writers/Co-Showrunners Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski have also confirmed that Julian Cihi will voice the Katayanagi Twins (Kyle and Ken).
Given Netflix’s interest in animated projects as a whole, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they continued the story with a follow-up if O’Malley and Grabinski have intentions to tell more stories within this fantastical universe.
