Giancarlo Esposito Is A Driver With “A Particular Set Of Skills” In AMC’s New Thriller Series

Feb 7, 2024

At this point, there’s a whole subgenre called “a particular set of skills” stories. Popularized by Liam Neeson and his “Taken” film series, this genre finds an older man called upon to return to his old way of life, which typically means kicking ass and murdering people. Of course, it’s only for one last time. On TV, we have something similar arriving soon, titled “Parish.”

As seen in the trailer for “Parish,” the series is about an older gentleman who is happy being a loving husband and dad. However, things change when someone from a past life comes back and he has to resume his old ways, which means driving and beating up bad guys. I mean, there’s a character who literally asks for someone with “a particular set of skills.” So, even the writers know what’s up.
The series stars Giancarlo Esposito, Zackary Momoh, Paula Malcomson, Skeet Ulrich, Bonnie Mbuli, Ivan Mbakop, Arica Himmel, and Dax Rey. “Parish” is based on the British series, “The Driver,” which is co-created by Danny Brocklehurst. He returns to co-create this new series. The series is showrun by Eduardo Javier Canto and Ryan Maldonado.
“Parish” debuts on AMC and AMC+ on March 31. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Parish, Esposito stars as Gracian “Gray” Parish, a family man and proud owner of a luxury car service in New Orleans. After his son is violently murdered and his business collapses, an encounter with an old friend from his days as a wheelman resurfaces old habits, sending Gray on a high-stakes collision course with a violent criminal syndicate.
