Summary
The
Superman: Legacy
logo
may have been revealed during the recent table read.
Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan reveals DCU’s new Superman will have a sense of humor, bringing a fresh and funny take on the iconic character.
The upcoming
Superman
reboot,
Superman: Legacy
, is being made with a lot of love and passion by fans of the Man of Steel.
We may have gotten our first look at the Superman symbol that will be adorned by David Corenswet in the upcoming DCU reboot, Superman: Legacy. Glimpsed via the Instagram story of star Isabela Merced, who will portray DC superhero Hawkgirl in the movie, the logo was displayed on the actress’ name tag during the recent table read of the Superman: Legacy script.
You can check out the image of the Superman: Legacy logo below.
While it is currently unknown whether this will indeed be the logo used in Superman: Legacy, it is notable for its similarity to the logo used by the once-exiled Clark Kent in the 1996 DC comics arc, Kingdom Come, as well as by Superman Returns star Brandon Routh in The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths. Written by Mark Waid and with artwork by Alex Ross, the aged Superman in Kingdom Come is likely far different to the one that will be introduced in Superman: Legacy, but the use of the logo will no doubt have fans wondering whether the costume will ditch the traditional red-and-yellow motif for red-and-black.
Emmy Award winner Rachel Brosnahan recently revealed that the DCU’s version of Superman “will have a sense of humor” and teased her take on the latest iteration of DC icon Lois Lane. Speaking with ET, Brosnahan described the Superman reboot’s Lois Lane as “feisty” and “…dare I say marvelous?” In reference to her role in the comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She went on to say that she has “enjoyed” working with director DC Studios CEO James Gunn, and declared that Superman: Legacy is being made by a bunch of Man of Steel nerds.
“I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far. Every single person involved in this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies. Some of us were reading the comics. So I feel like it’s being made with so much love. And I think this Superman will have a sense of humor.”
Brosnahan will play Lois Lane alongside The Politician and We Own This City star David Corenswet as Clark Kent, aka Superman. The pair beat the likes of Phoebe Dynevor, Emma Mackey, Nicholas Hoult (who will instead play Lex Luthor), and Tom Brittney to the iconic DC roles, with Brosnahan saying they are bot “excited” to bring their own versions of the characters to the big screen.
“We’re excited to both put our own spin on things and honor the material we love so much.”
The last silver screen take on Superman, played by Henry Cavill in the SnyderVerse’s Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, was often criticized for being far too serious and somber. But it sounds like Superman: Legacy’s Man of Steel will see more of the funny side, and thus arguably be a more accurate interpretation of his comic book counterpart.

Superman: Legacy Starts Filming in March, David Corenswet Now in Fight Training
Superman: Legacy is due to begin filming March, it has been confirmed, and Brosnahan revealed that Corenswet is now undergoing fight training to ensure he can throw his best super strength punch. Speaking with THR, she said she has been “having conversations” with director James Gunn and David Corenswet, with the pair currently “out in Atlanta – they’ve been out in Atlanta doing some fight training. I’m been begging James to let me get in there and show off these guns – but to no avail, yet.”
Superman: Legacy will kick off the DCU in 2025 and will tell “the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” according to the official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
The Superman reboot will be the beginning of the new DCU, with projects such as Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing reboot, and a Wonder Woman prequel series titled Paradise Lost to follow as part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Superman: Legacy is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.
