The Bloody & Brutal Comic Book Adaptation Returns To Prime Video In June
May 6, 2024
Comic book universes can venture far from their core storylines in a bid to attract more viewers (*cough* Marvel) despite producing content that grows increasingly less relevant. Creators expect an audience to continually binge on the newest adaptation or sequel to get the slightest morsel of a new character or narrative twist that may or may not ever materialize later on. Thankfully “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke is well aware of that when talking about the upcoming season of the hit series.
“We try to keep the timeline super simple because all that folding-in-on-itself timeline stuff that I think other comic book universes find themselves having to do is just bewildering for me as a viewer,” he said to Variety. “It’s all more like cars on a train than it is a plate of spaghetti.”

So, it’s reassuring to know that Season 4 of “The Boys” will take place one month after the events of “Gen V,” the spinoff series released this past September.
New faces this season include Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, joining our epic lineup of usual suspects: Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Claudia Doumit, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Colby Minifie, and Cameron Crovetti.
This season the virus from “Gen V” will play a heavy role, and Homelander will have to stand trial for a very public murder. All the while the presidential election grows closer with a potential victory for the Vought heroes in sight.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Season Four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
“The Boys” Season 4 is set to premiere June 13. You can watch the trailer below:
