Star Wars: The Acolyte is taking the legendary space fantasy in a new direction, by offering the franchise’s first end-credits pop song. According to an announcement on StarWars.com, a future episode of the series will feature original music by Grammy-winning artist Victoria Monét during the end credits. The full song was released Friday on music streaming services and YouTube.
The song, titled “The Power of Two,” embraces the show’s theme of duality, and the lyrics reference the extremes of the lead characters, twin sisters Mae and Osha (played by Amandla Stenberg). Monét, who also co-wrote the song, described her excitement with the website.
“Having my song be a part of the classic
Star Wars
franchise via
The Acolyte
is such an honor, and I’m thrilled for everyone to hear it when they see how it ties into the overall storyline! D’Mile and I had a great time making the song and hope the world loves it as much as we do.”

The song was written by Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II, Michael Abels, and Monét. It is produced by Abels and D’Mile, who won an Oscar in 2021 for Best Original Song (Judas and the Black Messiah). Monét has won three Grammy Awards in her career, including Best R&B Album in 2024. She often collaborates with singer Ariana Grande, and has scored several Top 40 singles.
Star Wars Fans are Divided by The Acolyte’s Track
The response to the song is, not surprisingly, just as divisive as the response to the series itself. Adding a modern R&B song to a genre franchise like Star Wars is a style risk, and opinions of the choice run the extremes. Some took to X (formerly Twitter) to sing the praises of the song:
Others felt that the song was woefully out of place in the series:
Pop songs don’t belong in Star Wars, sorry.
