Born Again’ Trailer Confirms Jon Bernthal & A Ms. Marvel Tease, ‘Ironheart’ Teaser Also Unveiled [D23]
Aug 10, 2024
Marvel’s Kevin Feige hit the D23 stage on Friday night in Anaheim and revealed a taste of “Captain America: Brave New World,” a hello from the cast of “Fantastic Four,” and trailers for “Agatha All Along,” “Ironheart,” and “Daredevil: Born Again.” While only “Agatha All Along” was put online, let’s say we’ve had a chance to see all the footage.

“Daredevil: Born Again” was the fan favorite online, and a two-minute trailer shown within D23 confirmed the return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, The Punisher (he was on stage, too). A violent trailer reminiscent of the TV-MA “Echo” series—which Daredevil briefly appeared in—the trailer showed off a dark and scuzzy Hell’s Kitchen and a scene that suggests the Kingpin know Matt Mudorck’s superhero indemnity. The trailer also featured The White Tiger villain character, Bullseye, and also ended with a teaser reference to “Ms. Marvel” and “The Marvels” and featured Kamala Khan’s father, Yusuf (played by Mohan Kapur), trying to employ the services of lawyer Matt Murdock.
The series once again stars Charlie Cox as Daredevil/Matt Murdock (who first appeared in the MCU briefly in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “She-Hulk” and “Echo”), Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin (first introduced in “Hawkeye” and then turned up again in “Echo”), and Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher from the Netflix days.
Additionally, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, and Ayelet Zurer all return as the same characters from the “Daredevil” Netflix series. Newcomers to the cast include Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, and Jeremy Earl.
Dario Scardapane is the series’ head writer and showrunner; episodes are directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd.
Here’s a brief synopsis:
Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again” catches up with Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk, who’s pursuing his own political endeavors in New York.

A trailer for Marvel’s “Ironheart” was also shown, depicting its Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) character lost after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Ryan Coogler was also onstage as his Proximity Media company co-produced the film with Marvel. “After my internship abroad, I felt stuck,” Riri said in the teaser, referencing her time in Wakanda. “I want to build something undeniable.”
Describing how she needs “cash money” to achieve this goal, she is led down a questionable path and seeks aid from Parker Robbins, aka The Dark Hood (Anthony Ramos), who wears a hood that grants him dark magical powers. The series seems to be set up as a showdown between Riri’s science-based technology and the Hood’s mystical magical powers. Riri’s new Ironheart suit in the series also looks more akin to the Iron Man armor mashed up together with the War Machine suit.
The trailer also showed Alden Ehrenrich’s character, Joe McGillicuddy, and Jim Rash reprising his small role in “Captain America: Civil War” as an MIT professor and revealing that Riri gets expelled from the prestigious university. No date for Ironheart was announced, but it’s known to be arriving sometime in 2025, though likely after “Daredevil: Born Again,” which will have a March 2025 premiere on Disney+.
Here’s a synopsis:
Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos).
“Ironheart” also stars Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge serves as head writer and EP; and episodes are directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes.

An extended trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World” seemed to put more of the plot in motion: The President (Harrison Ford) wants to use Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) to help him rebuild the Avengers, but the new Captain seems dubious. The film also introduces the metal known as Adamantium, famous for being the metal in Wolverine’s exo-skeleton. The Adamantium is harvested from the hand that broke out of the Indian Ocean at the end of “The Eternals” film. The teaser also ended with Ford’s President Thaddeus Ross hulking out in front of the whole world in a press conference and transforming into the Red Hulk.
Earlier in the day, Laura Karpman (“The Marvels,” “Ms. Marvel,” “American Fiction”) announced that she would be composing the score for the upcoming feature film, “Captain America: Brave New World,”

“Captain America: Brave New World” opens in theaters on February 14, 2025. Here’s that original trailer, which is essentially a much shorter one that was shown at D23.
