Hilary Swank Joins Season 3 Of Showtime’s Hit Show In Recurring Guest Role
Sep 27, 2024
No word on when “Yellowjackets” Season 3 will premiere on Paramount+ next year, but here’s some buzz for fans: an A-list actress will join the troubled girl gang in the next batch of episodes. Deadline reports that Hilary Swank will be a recurring guest star in Season 3, with an option to become a series regular if Showtime greenlights another season. And Season 4 of “Yellowjackets” is all but guaranteed, barring Season 3 doesn’t have its central story fall apart entirely.

Then again, Season 2 of “Yellowjackets” wasn’t exactly the unanimous smash hit Season 1 was back in 2021. The Showtime series follows a decades-jumping saga of a team of high school soccer players who survive a plane crash in the remote northern wilderness and resort to desperate measures to survive. 25 years later, the survivors, now women, remain damaged from all they dealt with in the woods, including cannibalism, tribal warfare, and a dark, possibly supernatural presence.
So how will Swank’s character fit into all this? Given her age, she’ll likely show up in the 2021 storyline, which stars series regulars Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell; Juliette Lewis won’t be back for S3. Meanwhile, the younger 1996 versions of the main characters are played by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton.
It’s confirmed that Swank’s character gets introduced in the latter part of S3, but further details about her role remain unknown, much like another recent cast addition, Joel McHale. Is Swank an adult survivor of the soccer team “Yellowjackets” hasn’t unveiled yet? Someone who shows up in the woods in 1996? Only time will tell.
Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson serve as creators and showrunners on “Yellowjackets,” with S3 currently in production in Vancouver. The pair also serve as executive producers on the series with fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins also serves as executive producer through Creative Engine with Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa, and Brad Van Arragon. “Yellowjackets” is a Lionsgate Television production.
Stay tuned for an official premiere date for “Yellowjackets” S3 on Paramount+ next year. The previous two seasons are available to watch on the streamer now, and will also be on Netflix starting on October 1, just in time for Halloween.
