Every TV Show Coming to Max in October 2024

While there might not be a slew of series set to premiere on Max next month, that doesn’t mean the options heading to the streaming platform are anything to overlook. With shows like The Last of Us, The Penguin, and House of the Dragon, the streaming service has proven time and again that they offer quality over quantity nearly every month of the year. The shows set to arrive in October might not be for everyone, but there’s no denying each series is worth checking out.

With dramas, comedies, and an animated children’s series heading to Max next month, the streaming platform has something just about anyone would enjoy watching. While there certainly aren’t any shows specifically made for the Halloween season, there’s still plenty to love about each series Max has to offer in the coming weeks.

Gremlins: Wild Batch (Season 2)

Gremlins: Wild Batch is an animated children’s series that follows a young Sam Wing (Izaac Wang) and the adventures he has with Gizmo the Mogwai throughout China. The first season was subtitled Secrets of the Mogwai and focused on how Sam and Gizmo initially met. Alongside a young street thief named Elle (Gabrielle Nevaeh Green), the pair undergo a dangerous journey across the countryside, where they encounter various legendary monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. After they set out to return Gizmo to his family, a power-hungry industrialist named Riley Greene (Matthew Rhys) and his growing army of evil Gremlins do their best to thwart the trio’s efforts.

As the series enters its second season and viewers learn more about the creation of Mogwai by the goddess Nuwa and her brother Fuxi, the team will venture further than ever before. Sam, Gizmo, and Elle will embark on yet another adventure where they’ll travel from Shanghai to San Francisco. While navigating the mysteries of the American West, they’ll encounter numerous supernatural creatures and many mischievous Mogwai, possibly facing a new challenge from Gizmo himself. Gremlins: Wild Batch is streaming on Oct. 3.

The Franchise (Season 1)

The Franchise is a comedy series that chronicles the production issues one film crew faces on the set of an ostensibly subpar superhero film. Antics ensue as the team remains seemingly trapped inside the dysfunctional nightmare created in an effort to make the latest franchise superhero flick. As they fight to make space for themselves in the cutthroat world of the movie business, the team behind the misbegotten film franchise does their best to wade through the chaos.

Whether they’ll succeed or fail in their endeavor remains to be seen, but they’ll strive to finish the film, nonetheless. With a hilarious ensemble cast that includes Himesh Patel, Aya Cash, Jessica Hynes, Billy Magnussen, Lolly Adefope, Darren Goldstein, Isaac Cole Powell, Richard E. Grant, Daniel Brühl, and Ruaridh Mollica, The Franchise will certainly garner plenty of laughs. The Franchise is streaming on Oct. 6.

The Confidante (Limited Series)
Stream on Oct. 11

Based on true events, The Confidante (Une Amie Dévouée) is a French-language psychological drama about a woman named Christelle (Laure Calamy) who joins a community of survivors following the 2015 terrorist attack in Paris. Understandably, she tells her harrowing story of survival in the wake of such a heinous act and garners sympathy and a sense of connection to those around her.

After claiming her best friend was one of the dozens who were critically injured at the Bataclan Theatre, she quickly becomes a prominent member of the survivors’ association. However, as discrepancies in her story begin to arise, it becomes clear that Christelle might not have any sort of connection to the tragedy as she led so many people to believe. As her web of lies begins to unravel, the true victims of the tragedy are left questioning the truth. The Confidante (Une Amie Dévouée) is streaming on Oct. 11.

Somebody Somewhere (Season 3)
Stream on Oct. 27

Somebody Somewhere is a comedy drama that follows a Kansas woman in her 40s named Sam (Bridget Everett) who is trying to find happiness against all odds. Having returned home to care for her sister, Sam struggles to find her place after her sister dies. In the wake of her grief, while simultaneously in the throes of a midlife crisis, Sam manages to find comfort from a delightful community of outsiders who don’t quite fit in but never seem to give up on themselves or others.

In the forthcoming third and final season of the series, Sam continues to flourish alongside the friends she’s made on her journey of self-acceptance. Having waded through her grief, she’s finally able to see the light. The Peabody Award-winning series includes performances by Jeff Hiller, Mary Catherine Garrison, Tim Bagley, Murray Hill, Jennifer Mudge, Mercedes White, Meighan Gerachis, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. Somebody Somewhere is streaming on Oct. 27.
