You’re Next Clip Gives Bakugo & Class 1-A Their Time To Shine
Oct 2, 2024
My Hero Academia: You’re Next is almost here, with its North American release date officially set for October 11, 2024. The film is set just before the final war breaks out in My Hero Academia season 7, and promises to be every bit as exciting as the most recent season of the anime has been. ScreenRant has been provided an exclusive clip, showcasing a small part of the challenges Class 1-A are set to face.
The clip follows Bakugo’s team, consisting of Mina, Tokoyami, Kirishima, Koda, and Sato, as they arrive in a dungeon area set up by the villainous figure known only as Dark Might. Confronted with monsters, Bakugo is his usual fiery self, and the team soon gets to work “clearing the dungeon” just like it’s a video game. Check out the clip below:
The clip reveals a bit of how Class 1-A will be split up throughout the film, with teams led by Bakugo, Deku, and Shoto Todoroki, ensuring everyone gets a chance to shine in the series’ latest film.

In the lull between the confrontation with the Paranormal Liberation Front and the final war with the villains, a new villain who borrows the appearance of All Might has emerged, equipped with a floating fortress that’s absorbing the population of Japan as it slowly moves across the country. This villain bears more than just a resemblance to All Might, however–he seems to wield his power as well. With his dark ambitions, the so-called “Dark Might” represents one of the greatest threats that Japan has faced throughout the series, and it’s up to Class 1-A to deal with him.
The clip shows Bakugo and his team inside of Dark Might’s fortress, which seems to be populated with monsters, making it akin to a dungeon in a classic RPG video game. The origin of these monsters is certainly a mystery, as My Hero Academia doesn’t really have monsters, with its closest approximation being the bio-engineered Nomu that work for All for One. It’s possible these are bio-engineered creations as well, and given Dark Might’s hinted association with a wealthy crime family, the Gollinis, he may well have the funding to create such beasts.
The film was released in Japan on August 2, 2024, right around the time when the manga ended, making You’re Next the last new content some fans will experience for the franchise. It was quite a success in Japan, earning 895 million Yen (approx. $6.3 Million) in its first three days at the Japanese box office, where it was number one opening weekend.
While its North American release will be somewhat limited, it certainly stands to do fairly well there when it finally hits theaters on October 11. Western fans are already excited for My Hero Academia: You’re Next’s release, which will be shown in both dubbed and subbed forms during its run.
