New Coming Of Age ‘Star Wars’ Series Arrives Dec 3
Nov 1, 2024
A new “Star Wars” adventure awaits. While Marvel just announced six shows coming in 2025—so much for the “less is more” Bob Iger promise—Disney’s other big juggernaut property at Lucasfilm is seemingly slowing down. No new shows will appear on the horizon until at least 2026, and the company seems to be pivoting “Star Wars” back to the big screen with three new movies in the works. Still, “Andor” season two finishes up in 2025, and the last “Star Wars” series for 2024, “Skeleton Crew,” arrives this December.

Something more of a YA/coming-of-age series featuring children—think of “Stand By Me,” “Explorers,” “The Goonies” and films with that Steven Spielberg Amblin-era movie—“Skeleton Crew” explores a different flavor of “Star Wars” essentially with a group of kids lost within the big and vast galaxy far far away.“Skeleton Crew” follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by JudeLaw. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined. “Skeleton Crew” premieres on Dec. 3, 2024, on Disney+ with the first two episodes.
The series stars Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost. “Skeleton Crew” was conceived and created by “Spider-Man” trilogy director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford.
The filmmakers involved in the series are also top-notch. Episodes of the original live-action series are directed by Jon Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. The executive producers are Christopher Ford, Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson.
