Horror at Hinchinbrooke House Review: Meet Movie Monsters!

Nov 3, 2024

From Ooogie Boogie in the Tim Burton classic The Nightmare Before Christmas to zombie cheerleaders plucked straight from High School Musical the Horror at Hinchinbrooke House scare attraction is an absolute must-visit.

Located in a manor house that is used as a sixth form throughout the year but when term time approaches the Horror at Hinchinbrooke House team swoops in and transforms the house and surrounding area into one of the UK’s most intense non-waiver signed scare experiences.
Taking one hour to navigate this scary experience is unlike any other as the scene is set, this gloomy and supposedly haunted manor house that you traverse and meet characters every step of the way.
Over 130 actors on any given night span 18 sets themed around different genres and experiences, it’s 18 scare mazes in one and an absolute mission to navigate them all with the actors as intense and hands-on as I’ve seen at a scare maze before.

What surprised me was the one month turn around time because as you navigate the maze some of the scenes are done quite wonderfully and whilst they’re not the heaviest in detail they’re decorated perfectly to make sure you know exactly what movie you’re in and what you’re about to experience.
There wasn’t a second to catch your breath as you jumped from set to set and were at the mercy of the onslaught of actors flying from above, below and out of every single shadow you could find to put you on edge the entire time.
So many films were explored as you walked around the maze and you can clearly see just what cinematic influences the creators used throughout but what I found hilarious was how they managed to turn Mamma Mia into a small scare maze space, this was as genius as it was scary!
There was also a great little walkthrough space within the manor itself that was themed around Frankenstein. I’ve seen this style of room before in previous videos I’d seen of the event but this year they’ve themed it up even more and it further adds to the immersion as you navigate what looks to be a library of sorts within the manor.

Horror at Hinchinbrooke House is priced differently depending on the days you go but never exceeds £35 at the time of writing which for a 60-minute experience at a location like this with 130 actors I think is more than a fair price! If you think that’s a bit steep it can go down to £24.95 I believe which is even more bang for your buck.
There are no conga lines in this maze as staff members are scattered throughout who help to space out the groups making sure you get the best experience possible.
I couldn’t quite believe just how good this experience was and I was surprised I’d never visited sooner!
