First Look at Ironheart Reveals Disney+ Show & Release Date
Nov 5, 2024
After months of uncertainty around the project, Ironheart finally received an official teaser and release date from Disney+. The upcoming MCU series is a spinoff of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which features Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a young prodigy who obtains her own Iron Man-like armored suit. Ironheart follows her solo journey as she encounters brand-new characters in the MCU, including several familiar villains from the comics and an all-star supporting cast.
In the trailer released by Disney+ featuring their upcoming 2025 schedule, 20 seconds of brand-new Ironheart footage teases an action-packed adventure and a fresh spin on the Iron Man franchise. It also reveals that the series will be streaming next summer on June 24. The teaser shows off the big-budget show and the several new armored suits Ironheart will don, completely different from the one she wore in Wakanda Forever. It also includes our first look at Anthony Ramos and Alden Ehrenreich, who play the villains known as Parker Robbins aka The Hood and Joe McGillicuddy, respectively. The former can be seen in his comic-accurate outfit, which teases his magical abilities.
The first footage of the show was previously revealed at D23 earlier this year, but fans can finally get an official look at the show online. The brief teaser doesn’t include Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays a currently undisclosed character. It’s been speculated and heavily rumored that Cohen is portraying Mephisto, especially since the series will seemingly delve into the magical side of the MCU. Strangely enough, it seems Ironheart is a blend of science and the supernatural, with Riri Williams creating the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.
Ironheart Finally Revealed After Several Delays
Ironheart is finally set to be released next year, but that’s well apart from the original release schedule. The show finished production in late 2022 and was going to stream on Disney+ by the end of 2023, but the series was temporarily put on hold. Although it’s not overtly clear why this happened, several reports point to Marvel Studios being extra cautious about the quality of their output after a disappointing 2023. In fact, Ironheart was not the only project to be pushed to a late date. However, since it completed production two years ago, it remained the one series already shot that didn’t see the light of day. Daredevil: Born Again, which recently finished filming this year, is already set for a March release date on Disney+.

One major factor in the Ironheart delays could very well be its VFX-heavy nature. As seen in the brief trailer footage, Riri Williams sports several Iron Man-like suits and flies around, battling the Hood and other mysterious forces. Unlike Daredevil, the post-production process was likely delayed for Ironheart so that they could get the quality right, especially since She-Hulk had to introduce several fully-CGI Hulks to varying degrees of success. Another reason for the delay was Marvel Studios wanting to lighten the release schedule after several underwhelming releases in 2023. Although this has been a good year for Marvel, partly due to the scarcity of projects, they are now expected to drop a new show or film nearly every month in 2025.
Ironheart
will be available to stream on
Disney+ June 24, 2025.
The six-episode Ironheart, created by Chinaka Hodge, stars Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.
