When it comes to Indian films, there is no shortage of mythology in their stories, as we see many of them every year. Recently, we witnessed Brahmastra, a film directed by Ayan Mukerji that explored the history of sages while adding a thrilling touch to it. Although the narrative was not particularly compelling, it entertained audiences with breathtaking visuals and laid the groundwork for the upcoming trilogy. However, the Ramayana is the most well-known of these mythologies, as it is told in every culture about Lord Rama’s journey from India to Sri Lanka, conquering all hardships in order to save his beloved Sita.

While there have been numerous films and television shows based on this tale, fans are most excited about the upcoming Adipurush, starring Prabhas in the lead role. One of the main reasons audiences in India are enthusiastic about the film is the prospect of epic battles such as those seen in Bahubali recently, as well as some stunning visuals befitting the splendor of the Ramayana. While one of India’s most anticipated films, Adipurush, is being discussed, it is only fair to want to learn more about it. Here’s everything we know so far about the film.

Adipurush: The Plot

Adipurush, with the tagline “Celebrating the Good Over Evil,” depicts Lord Rama’s adventures as he embarks on a journey to rescue his beloved Sita. To put it another way, Lord Rama is an unrivaled existence under the heavens, and no king or warrior can equal his wits or prowess. When Janaka, King of Mithila, invites the most talented warriors in the realm to marry his daughter Sita, Lord Rama effortlessly wins the contest and weds her.

While they both fall in love at first sight, their happiness is short-lived when they are forced by his stepmother Kaikeyi to live for 14 years in Panchavati vanvas. Unfortunately, when Lord Rama goes hunting, he leaves Sita alone, and one of the contestants, Lankesh Ravana, who likewise fell in love with Sita at first sight, seizes the opportunity to abduct her. After learning that his beloved wife has been missing, Lord Rama departs on a quest to find her, and along the way, he meets Lord Hanuman, who has been idolizing him for ages. When Lord Rama learns that Lankesh Ravana has kept Sita captive, he gathers his army to wage war and rescue his beloved by any means necessary.

Although the official trailer displays some dicey animation, the characters were really well-portrayed, and the production crew captured the true essence of one of the world’s largest ancient epics.

Adipurush: The Cast & Crew

The film is fronted by Prabhas, who plays Lord Rama, one of the most powerful entities in the universe. Although he is unaccustomed to these kinds of roles, he has already proven his worth in warrior roles in Bahubali: The Beginning and Bahubali 2: The Conclusion. Apart from these two significant masterpieces, he has been in several hit films, including Mirchi, Mr. Perfect, Chatrapathi, and the sweet rom-com Darling. Kriti Sanon will play Lord Rama’s wife, Sita, and being one of the most beautiful actresses in the world, she is ideal for capturing Sita’s elegance. The actress has received multiple Indian Filmfare awards for her roles in Mimi and Heropanti. Additionally, Dilwale, 1: Nenokkadine, Luka Chuppi, and Bhediya are among her most well-known works.

However, the role of Lankesh Ravana, played by Saif Ali Khan, is arguably the most intriguing thing about the film. Although he is a versatile actor who plays a variety of roles, his performance as Langda Tyagi in 2006’s Omakara utterly surpassed audiences’ expectations since it was so authentic that it left everyone wondering where all the evil came from. Sartaj Singh in India’s first Netflix original Sacred Games, Rohit in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Boris in Go Goa Gone, and Abimanyu Veer in Dil Bechara are some of his most notable roles. While these three actors get the most screen time, other cast members include Sunny Singh, Vatsal Sheth, Rayhan Kadar, Prashant Kumar, and Gaurav Pandya.

Om Raut directs the film and also oversees the screenplay and story, while Manoj Muntashir writes the dialogue to evoke emotion and feel to the story. Om Raut’s directorial debut, Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush, earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director. Meanwhile, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Haunted-3D are two of the previous projects that garnered him recognition. The director discussed how challenging the film was to make in an exclusive interview with The Times of India.

“With a historical, there is a lot of research that happens with getting the narrative right, creating that right space and time, so that is definitely in addition. But I, personally, enjoy it. I’m a history buff and love romance history and I’m just happy doing readings and all the stuff required just to get it right. So I’ve been quite lucky that the actors that I wanted to work with, when we were writing the script, were the actors who eventually accepted the part later.”

Ankit Balhara (Padmaavat), Sanchit Balhara (Bajirao Masthani), Ajay Gogavale (Sairat), and Atul Gogavale (Agneepath) are the four highly experienced musicians that composed the music.
