No burns this time coming from the actor who portrays Michael Kelso on That ’70s Show and Netflix’s ’90s-era reboot, which recently announced its second season renewal.
In a recent interview with E! News (via ScreenRant), Ashton Kutcher said:
“I hope those kids have 10 seasons of that show.”
Kutcher owes a lot of gratitude to the original sitcom — created by Bonnie and Terry Turner — which gave him not only his first big break, but also his real-life wife in actor Mila Kunis, who famously played Kelso’s girlfriend Jackie Burkhart.
Kutcher and Kunis both reprised their roles in That ’90s Show as husband and wife with offspring Jay Kelso (played by Mace Coronel) taking the spotlight alongside a next-gen cast which includes a 3rd-generation Foreman in Leia (played by Callie Haverda). The first season of That ’90s Show also features cameos from Topher Grace (as Eric Foreman), Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti), Wilmer Valderama (Fez), and Tommy Chong (who plays Leo), with other primary characters conspicuously left out for reasons. Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp (who play Red and Kitty Foreman) return to the show as cast mainstays.
Kutcher, who was often referred to as ‘jughead’ by Red in the original series, praised his latter co-stars, with whom he went on to collaborate on subsequent projects:
“It was so cool. Kurtwood and Debra Jo are so amazing. I was doing The Ranch on Netflix and both of them came and were on the show. I love them dearly. I love the whole cast of the show, everybody that we worked with. I grew up with that team. Being able to go back in there and re-experience it was super nostalgic and really fun.”
The original Kelso actor said he doesn’t know if of how much season two will feature his character, as he hasn’t been approached or included in any ongoing That ’90s Show conversations.
Meanwhile, the original showrunners are eager to keep going, as Bonnie and Terry Turner shared their enthusiastic response to That ’90s Show’s second season renewal announcement:
“We here in Point Place realize you have many options for entertainment and we’re thrilled you chose us. We look forward to entertaining you for years to come. Buh-bye!”

Topher Grace was also excited to see the show return — even though his first-season cameo in That ’90s Show was noticeably shorter than those of his former basement crew — as he recently tweeted his well wishes for the show’s celebrated continuation:
“Congrats to my friends on 90s Show! Can’t wait to be reunited with you all on That 00s Show, debuting fall 2038.”
