Universal Stella Nova Hotel Review: Budget Friendly
Jan 17, 2025
Yesterday Universal Orlando gave special guests a sneak peek of Stella Nova Resort, one of the budget hotels that will be open to the public later this month.
Please note all images in this article are concept images, we are waiting on Universal for the official press imagery due to be released next week!
Fans have been given a sneak peek of the hotel and even managed to sample the menu from some of the restaurants and eateries located within the property.
Universal Stella Nova Resort alongside its sister hotel Terra Luna (located just across from it) are the two budget taster hotels for Universal’s Epic Universe theme park set to officially open in May.
There will be three hotels built as part of the Epic Universe project with the two aforementioned and a more luxurious and expensive hotel named The Grand Helios.
Both the Stella Nova and Terra Luna hotels are quite similar in how they’re designed but have a few little varieties between them such as food offerings and other amenities.
Whilst we weren’t going to fly to Orlando just to walk around a hotel we have binge-watched every piece of hotel tour content enough to structure our review and thoughts about this brand-new budget property.
Stella Nova Exterior
Themed around the infinite vastness of the unexplored universe the architecture of Stella Nova Resort is very impressive as there are a lot of unique shapes and curvature to the building that give you that futuristic vibe.
Such are the curves and aesthetic of the building that Stella Nova Resort wouldn’t look out of place within the Men In Black ride located within the Universal Studios park.
Universal Stella Nova is set to open on January 21st with the sister hotel (Terra Luna) expected to open on March 25th.
Both hotels will have a shuttle bus service which will connect all Universal Orlando properties and parks.
Whilst budget in nature the main feeling of the building is very plush and there is ample room around the outdoor pool for everyone to enjoy.
Stella Nova greets you with this UFO-style entrance plaza (which will look even better at night with its embedded star lights) extending from its dazzling building which will glimmer in the Floridian sunshine. Whilst the exterior of the building has had a marmite reaction online I personally, absolutely love it!
Inside Universal Stella Nova
Where I feel as though the hotel skips a few corners is in its amenities and rooms.
It’s offering a budget service so whilst the hotel rooms are plush and new they feel very minimalistic and simple but for the price you pay, it’s a solid room nonetheless.
Upon watching numerous tours of the hotel I found the gym to be somewhat underwhelming despite its very cool ceiling.
It depends on how you like your hotels because if you want vibrancy then I’m afraid you won’t find it here as it’s a minimalistic design but it works for the theme in which they are centring it around although some artwork or funky lighting effects in the lobby on the vastness of white wouldn’t go amiss.
Thankfully the corridors that head down to the various rooms have a lovely sparkling ceiling effect mimicking stars in the sky. This effect will look absolutely outstanding in the evening just like I feel the rest of the hotel will.
Fun Fact: All of the photos you do see dotted around the hotel were captured by NASA which is a cool touch.
Whilst it’s impressive in the daytime I feel as though it will come into its own the second the Floridian sun sets in the sky.
Universal Stella Nova gives me 2001: Space Odyssey vibes minus a computer that’s trying to murder me but hey, there’s always time for a renovation to add that in before its grand opening.
The reason it gives me that vibe is because of its simplistic design with very unique and space-age style furniture. It’s very cool, I can’t lie!
This particular hotel is classed as a prime value boutique hotel within the Universal range.
Cafes and bars within the hotel all share the same clean aesthetic and every inch of the hotel feels like it would ooze class and sophistication in the glorious sunshine.
Universal Stella Nova Rooms
All of the rooms at Universal Stella Nova are identical, there are no suites or different classes of rooms outside of the standard rooms and the accessible rooms have the option of a standard view or a pool view.
Simplistic in design but these double Queen rooms come complete with this beautiful round window giving it a spacey porthole feel.
The coffee maker and mini fridge come standard along with a very cool side table lamp next to the beds.
The rooms are 315 square feet in size and come complete with their own astrology accompaniment on the walls.
Accessible features in the Accessible rooms include such things as an ADA tub with grab bars, handheld shower, toilet with grab bars and doors with 36″ wide openings.
There is a maximum occupancy of 4 guests and there is ample closet space with the bathroom nicely sized.
Rooms that I could compare this particular room style to here in the UK would be that of a Hilton Garden Inn.
Final Thoughts
Staying loyal to the concept art as Universal usually do the Stella Nova Hotel is everything you want from a budget-friendly hotel but speaking of budget, prices currently range from $250+ for the hotel as we speak so, not entirely budget-friendly in that regard.
As it stands at the time of writing there are no options for Epic Universe entry to be included in the hotel bookings for the foreseeable (including the luxurious Grand Helios) which is a real shame but early park admission should you already have tickets is allowed one hour before general public opening times.
Whilst there are even cheaper hotels close by including the Hilton that we recently stayed at near the entrance of Universal (CLICK HERE for the video) we feel as though this is the first chance to dip your feet into the Epic Universe pool and soak up what is about to come.
Even cooler, the hotel has a Universal Studios Store that is currently stocked full of unique Epic Universe merchandise that I haven’t seen released before so if you’re a big Universal fan and you want to get on that swag, then now’s your chance.
Until then you can check out this awesome vlog from SuperEnthused giving you a tour of the hotel on a media press day preview above.
