An evacuation warning was temporarily issued for parts of Bel-Air due to a brush fire burning on the Sepulveda Pass near the I-405 Freeway, the Associated Press said following the start of the new blaze that was first reported just after 11 p.m. Wednesday as L.A. continues to be hit by fires.

The new blaze, near the Getty Center museum, spread amid wind gusts in the area, according to the National Weather Service.

“Multiple fire engines were at the scene. Firefighting helicopters overnight dropped water and filled up at the nearby Stone Canyon Reservoir,” the Los Angeles Times reported, noting that the fire burned 40 acres.

But shortly before 2 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that the blaze had stopped spreading. Officials lifted the evacuation warning for parts of Bel-Air, including Moraga Drive, known for its multimillion-dollar homes, the L.A. Times said. Moraga Bel Air Vineyards, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, was understood to be among the properties that had received evacuation warnings.

“There are no structures damaged and no injuries reported. Firefighters will remain on scene through the night conducting mop-up operations to ensure no hotspots remain,” the LAFD said, noting that traffic would be affected.

The Getty Center “activated fire protection measures,” a representative told the L.A. Times.
