The Mandalorian has been a resounding success since it premiered on Disney+ in November 2019, with fans and critics alike hailing it as one of the best entries in the Star Wars franchise in years. The series, created by Jon Favreau, follows the adventures of the titular bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his companion Grogu as they travel across the galaxy, completing dangerous missions and encountering a host of new and familiar characters along the way.

Speaking with Inside Total Film podcast (via Games Radar) ahead of the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 3, Favreau revealed that he has not yet planned an ending for the series. He stated that while there will be resolutions for the characters over time, there is no finale in mind, and he loves the idea of the stories continuing on and on.

“I think the beauty of this is that it’s a middle chapter of a much larger story. And though we’ll have resolution over time with these characters, I think that how these characters fit into the larger scope and scale, but it’s not like there’s a finale that we’re building to that I have in mind. Quite the contrary, I love for these stories to go on and on. And so these characters potentially could be with us for a while, and I really love telling stories in their voice, and I love the way the adventures unfold and I’m looking forward to doing much more,” Favreau said.

One of the main reasons for the show’s success is undoubtedly the strong performances of its cast, with Pedro Pascal in particular delivering a standout turn as the titular Mandalorian. Pascal is joined by a talented ensemble, including the likes of Carl Weathers, and Giancarlo Esposito, all of whom have become fan favorites in their own right. The show’s production values are also second to none, with stunning visual effects and beautifully crafted set designs transporting viewers to a galaxy far, far away. As the series continues, it will be interesting to see where the story takes us and what new challenges our heroes will face.

How Jon Favreau’s Approach to The Mandalorian was Inspired by the MCU

Disney+

Jon Favreau is undoubtedly a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, as he has made significant contributions to both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Star Wars franchise. His work on Disney+’s popular series, The Mandalorian, and its spin-off show, The Book of Boba Fett, has received widespread praise for its attention to detail, storytelling, and unique approach to the Star Wars universe.

The Mandalorian has also been praised for its ability to bring a fresh perspective to the Star Wars universe while still staying true to its roots. Favreau’s experience in the MCU has undoubtedly played a role in this success. His approach to building a successful franchise revolves around creating a rich and interconnected universe that keeps fans engaged and excited about what’s to come. The Mandalorian has done this by introducing new characters and storylines that tie into the overarching narrative.

One of the things that sets The Mandalorian apart from other shows in the Star Wars universe is its focus on character development. The show’s main character, Din Djarin, is a complex and layered character with a tragic backstory. Throughout the show, we see him develop relationships with Grogu and other characters and learn more about himself and his place in the galaxy. This focus on character development is something that Favreau also emphasized in the MCU, as seen in the development of characters like Iron Man and Captain America.

The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on Mar. 1.
