The Flash Promo Art Reveals Batman, Supergirl & an Odd-Looking Variant of Barry Allen

Mar 12, 2023

New promo art from the upcoming DCU movie, The Flash, offers our latest look at Ezra Miller as the titular superhero alongside Michael Keaton as Batman, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and what appears to be a rather odd-looking variant of Barry Allen. Emerging on social media, the artwork finds Miller’s main character in a brand-new suit, with Keaton’s Bruce Wayne donning a cape and cowl similar to that of 1992’s Batman Returns. However, questions begin to arise when looking at the over-excited Barry Allen variant on the left, who appears to be wearing a Batman suit sprayed red. Resulting in an….interesting look.

While details of The Flash remain largely under wraps, we do know that the movie will do what the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have done for the MCU and introduce audiences to the DC multiverse. The Flash will take inspiration from the comic book arc Flashpoint and finds Barry Allen traveling back in time to prevent his mother’s murder. Unfortunately, as is so often the case when messing with time and the multiverse, this will bring unintended consequences to his timeline, with variants of familiar characters being introduced throughout the multiversal adventure.

How exactly these events result in Barry Allen sporting an altered version of a Batman suit remains to be seen. But, if recent rumors are accurate, being forced to wear such a ridiculous outfit could be why this Barry Allen variant turns to villainy…

The Flash is Due to Finally Make His Solo Debut Later This Year

Warner Bros. Pictures

Considering the character’s penchant for speed, DC fans have been waiting far too long to see The Flash sprint onto screens. Thankfully, The Flash editor Paul Machliss has declared that the long-gestating comic book movie outing will be “worth the wait” when it lands in theaters later this year.

“It’s gonna be exciting. I mean, Warners has charged us with making the best film we possibly can,” Machliss said of the project. “What I can say is that we’re gonna be utilizing… We’re the first film to be utilizing some very, very new technology in terms of getting multiple versions of the same actor on the screen, rather than using either locked off cameras or even the motion controls we used in [Last Night in Soho]. There’s been a development with some wonderful technology, which I’d love to be able to talk about now, but this time next year once the film’s out, we can go into total, scrupulous detail. But that is very, very exciting and I’m very pleased to say that we’re the first, certainly on a film of this scale to utilize it. Probably why it’s taken so long to finish actually. But it’s worth the wait, because it looks fantastic.”

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller alongside Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck. Following all manner of delays, director changes, and drama behind the scenes, The Flash is due to finally make his solo debut on the big screen later this year and is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2023.
