Aaron Taylor-Johnson Unsure Why Quicksilver Wasn’t Revived by Scarlet Witch
Dec 16, 2024
Avengers: Age of Ultron broke fans’ hearts when it unexpectedly killed off Quicksilver (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson). The beloved X-Men hero who can run faster than a speeding bullet was, well… shot, while saving a child in Sakovia. Almost a decade after the character’s death, Taylor-Johnson finally questions why we never saw his version of Quicksilver again in the MCU.
Speaking to IMDb while promoting his latest Marvel/Sony project, Kraven the Hunter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson asked the question that has been on fans’ minds for years. Death means very little in the MCU, thanks to the Multiverse, and the Scarlet Witch’s powers. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) was able to conjure two children out of thin air. So, why didn’t she bring her brother back? Taylor-Johnson fairly said:
“Lizzie Olsen, phenomenal actor, absolute star, wonderful human being. And I’m not just saying that — she’s really lovely… And I don’t know why she didn’t resurrect me!”
In WandaVision, alongside her two magical children and robotic husband, Wanda Maximoff actually did bring her brother back to life. It just happened to be the wrong version. Evan Peters reprised his role of Quicksilver from Fox’s X-Men universe for a handful of episodes, before the show pulled the rug out from underneath audiences. It turns out Peters wasn’t playing Pietro Maximoff, but a random citizen of Westview called Ralph Bonner — WandaVision was a wild show. Wanda is presumed to be dead in the MCU, following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But, as previously said, death means very little in the franchise.
Could Aaron Taylor-Johnson Return as Quicksilver in the MCU?
Quicksilver’s death was a murky patch for the MCU. The death of Vision transformed Wanda Maximoff into the powerful Scarlet Witch, who was the main villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But her brother earned just a single scene of grief in Age of Ultron, and is barely mentioned after the movie. Following the bait-and-switch, fans are still desperate to see Quicksilver in the MCU, especially with the upcoming X-Men movie. But could Aaron Taylor-Johnson play the role again? It is almost a guarantee that Quicksilver will return to the MCU one day, as he’s one of the most popular X-Men characters of all time. However, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are likely waiting for the right time to re-introduce the character.

Marvel Studios have done a full 180 on fans’ expectations for ‘Spider-Man 4’.
Unfortunately, it most likely won’t be Taylor-Johnson playing the role. Despite his recent questioning about Scarlet Witch’s motives, the actor probably won’t play Quicksilver again for one major reason: he’s now playing another major Marvel character. Taylor-Johnson stars in Kraven the Hunter as the titular Spider-Man villain, alongside Russel Crowe, Ariana DeBose, and Fred Hechinger. The film releases in theaters on Dec. 13, but is already on shaky ground. The first eight minutes were released online, and fans have already written Kraven the Hunter off as another Madame Web-level flop. If, by some miracle, Kraven the Hunter is a success, there’s always the chance the character could venture into the MCU.
Kraven the Hunter is the fourth movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, set in the same Marvel continuity as Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius. Played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the titular Kraven goes on a solo adventure as an anti-hero, this time independent of his comic book counterpart’s crusade to hunt down Peter Parker.
