Ahsoka: Where Is Ezra Bridger?
Sep 9, 2023
Summary
Ashoka is a sequel to Star Wars Rebels and features characters from the animated series, like Sabine Wren with her own lightsaber fight. The series hints that Ezra Bridger may be in another galaxy, potentially leading to a whole new direction for Star Wars. Ashoka may tie into Disney+’s planned Star Wars film, and Grogu’s connection to the Force could help the heroes find Ezra and stop Thrawn.
Ashoka is the next Disney+ series set in the Star Wars universe. While Ashoka leads the series, the show fits on a larger canvas. The series has directly been confirmed to be a sequel to the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Episodes one and two include plenty of references to Rebels. Even more than references, they include characters from that animated series. Sabine Wren gets her live-action debut in the first two episodes, even having her own lightsaber fight. In the battle against Shin Hati, Sabine’s weapon of choice was the lightsaber of her old friend, Ezra Bridger.
These first two episodes show that time has passed since the series finale of Rebels. The galaxy is in a time of peace, considering Ezra to have been a hero in defeating Grand Admiral Thrawn. Sabine, Ashoka, and Hera Syndulla are still trying to protect the galaxy, fearing what is yet to come. Ashoka, in particular, still believes that Thrawn is out there somewhere in hiding. The witch Morgan Elsbeth and her disciples (Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati) are trying to find the Grand Admiral. They believe that if Thrawn returns, they need Ezra to join the fight. It forces our heroes to begin the hunt to find Ezra and hopefully save the galaxy. Only one question remains, arguably the most simple, “Where is Ezra?”
He Is With Grand Admiral Thrawn
Lucasfilm
The Star Wars Rebels finale had Thrawn and Ezra come face-to-face. Ezra summoned the Purrgil (hyper-space traveling whales), sacrificing himself to defeat Thrawn. As they disappeared into a void, it made the galaxy assume the worst about the hero. It makes his fate seem like nothing more than a heroic sacrifice. Sabine gets a piece of information from Ashoka’s first episode that makes one wonder about his fate. Leaving Sabine that message can help decode where Ezra actually is. It also can connect to what the “Sith” are after. His hyperspace travel with Thrawn could’ve unlocked the impossible.
Ezra could have used the Purrgil to transport them to another galaxy. This new galaxy could change the course of Star Wars going forward. Instead of “a galaxy far, far away,” there could be a galaxy even further away. Episode two of Ashoka references a place known as “The Pathway to Peridea.” An entire new galaxy could reshape the face of Star Wars in the years to come. Ezra could have used the Purrgil and evidently uncovered Peridea. Elsbeth, Shin, and Baylan seem to be searching for the location from the first two episodes. This place could unlock endless potential for the known future of the franchise.
Disney+’s Star Wars shows are planning to culminate in a feature film. This idea could manifest itself in Ashoka’s final episodes. Elsbeth and her “Witches of Dathomir” are awaiting Thrawn’s return. Ashoka, Sabine, and the remaining Jedi might need help to access Dathomir. This is how Ashoka can eventually tie into Disney+’s planned Star Wars film. To do that successfully, our heroes might need some help.

The Group Needs Grogu
Lucas Films
Ashoka had a rather significant role in The Mandalorian’s second season. She could sense the immense power Grogu had and that it needed to be utilized. Mando giving him to Luke could unlock another level of his abilities. Grogu could be his own Purrgil and be able to traverse even more distant galaxies. He could help the heroes of Ashoka establish a connection to Ezra’s location.
Grogu could sense a clear pathway to enter Peridea. Our heroes (Ashoka, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla) could be struggling to find the way in. Ashoka could suggest calling on an old friend to find the proper gateway. His force sensitivity could find an opening to reach both Ezra and Thrawn. As we have already seen, Thrawn’s control in the galaxy is reaching an overwhelming point. No matter Grogu’s power, Ezra is the only thing that can truly stop Thrawn. Using Grogu could involve a meeting between these fan-favorite characters. Such a meeting could be one of the best moments in Star Wars ever.

Ashoka could potentially introduce Ezra to Grogu in the final episodes. This meeting could bridge the gap to years of Star Wars content. Completing it in this way could create a film that is epic and fixes the errors of the past. Grogu and Ezra’s meeting could be the equivalent of the infamous Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader duel. Their combined forces could create a cinematic event to save the Star Wars franchise from a recent negative reception. Ezra, Grogu, and the remaining Disney+ characters (Mandalorian, Ashoka, Sabine Wren) would culminate in this fandom. For these things to happen, the group must find Ezra first.
Ezra Bridger is the first big mystery Ashoka has presented to audiences. Diehard fans might already know the truth behind the “mystery.” But in this case, the journey will be worth the destination. Using Grogu to reach Ezra could give Star Wars audiences an entirely new (and needed) experience after some rocky recent years. While the sequel trilogy is considered a “failure,” this could be a shot at redemption. Time will tell how Ezra can be found, but the possibilities could lead to the newest and most exciting Star Wars content to date.
