‘Anora’ Dominates 2025 Oscars [Full Winners List]

Mar 3, 2025

The 97th Academy Awards were handed out Sunday evening in a ceremony hosted by Conan O’Brien at the Dolby Theater. As expected, Sean Baker and “Anora” completed their fairy-tale ending winning a whopping five Oscars including Picture, Director, Actress for Mikey Madison, Original Screenplay and Editing.

It was a telecast marred by late controversy due to a technical snafu with Hulu’s feed cutting right as Best Actress was being announced. Nonetheless, a little surprise came from this year’s ceremony as projected winners Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”), Kieran Culkin (“A Real Pain) and Zoe Saldaña (“Emilia Perez) all cruised to victory in their respective categories.
It was a bit of history for Saldaña as she became the first Dominican-American to take home an Oscar. Other history-makers included Costume Designer Paul Tazewell (“Wicked“), who became the first Black man to win the Oscar in his category, and “Flow,” which became the first Latvian film to win an Oscar, nabbing the prize for Best Animated Feature.
