Best Movies Coming to Disney+ in June 2023
Jun 7, 2023
Disney+ is a streaming service that has gradually made up ground on the industry’s leading lights in Netflix and Amazon Prime, with the platform arguably bringing its subscribers a better, more comprehensive selection of movies than both its major competitors.
That said, June 2023’s meager offerings don’t necessarily substantiate that claim. Let’s take a look at the movies hitting Disney+ in June 2023.

Avatar: The Way of Water (Jun. 7)
20th Century Studios
James Cameron’s 2009 epic smashed box office records and hit new heights as far as science fiction and special effects were concerned. After 13 years, with several of those in development, Avatar: The Way of Water washed into cinemas with as much power, gusto, and might as the tsunami that was its predecessor. With Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprising their roles as Jake “Sully” and Neytiri, the green scenes were set for another explosive installment of Na’vi adventures in Pandora.
Flowing into Disney+ in June 2023, the Cameron masterpiece is another meticulously constructed picture that is as impressive, if not more so, than the original. A compelling three-hour watch that is visually revolutionary and a unique tale of love, loss, integration, and the power of human destruction. The film currently holds the 3rd place spot at the all-time worldwide box office, sitting just behind Avengers: Endgame and the original Avatar. Cameron is expected to keep the momentum going when he releases Avatar 3on Dec. 20, 2024, followed by the fourth installment on Dec. 18, 2026, and the final film on Dec. 22, 2028.

Flamin’ Hot (Jun. 9)
Hulu
Distributed in association with fellow streamers, Hulu, Flamin’ Hot tackles the origin tale of everyone’s favorite chip-snack, Cheetos. A film that promises to be to Cheeto what The Founder was to McDonald’s and The Social Network was to Facebook. The ultimate conception story documents Richard Montanez and his revolutionary invention.
Inspired by the tastes, foods, and culture of his Mexican community, Flamin’ Hot documents Montanez’s rise from being maintenance staff at the food company Frito Lay to his conception of the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos that disrupted the food industry.
Stan Lee Documentary (Jun. 16)
Marvel Studios
Debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival in early June, Disney’s Stan Lee documentary offers exclusives and unprecedented firsts into the mind behind the Marvel universe. Coming five years after the late, great pioneers’ death, the documentary promises unparalleled access, eye-opening interviews, and an in-depth exploration of the creative process that led him to conceive some of the most iconic faces in film history. On what would have been his 100th year, this documentary is set to be a fitting tribute to a true legend.
Stan Lee is the iconic comic book writer who ultimately became the face of Marvel long before the idea of the interconnected MCU would ever become possible. He’s responsible for the largest franchise in the world, which continues to pump out films and Disney+ television shows today, and fans around the world would welcome an inside look at his life. Lee was quoted saying:
“Welcome true believers, this is Stan Lee. We’re about to embark the exploration of a fantastic new universe and the best part is that you are gonna create it with me. You may know me as a storyteller, but hey on this journey consider me your guide. I provide the widy and wonderful worlds and you create the sights, sounds and adventures. All you need to take part is your brain. So take a listen and think big, no bigger, we make it an epic. Remember when I created characters like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men? We were fascinated by science and awed by the mysteries of the great beyond. Today we consider a nearer deeper unknown one inside ourselves. […] we asked: What is more real? A world that we are born into or the one we create ourselves. As we begin this story, we find humanity lost within is own techno bubble. With each citizen the star of their own digital fantasy. […] But the real conundrum is, just because we have the ability to recreated ourselves, should we? […] Excelsior!”
