Daredevil star Charlie Cox
has his sights set on playing the beloved Marvel vigilante for years to come, and has turned to an upcoming comic arc for the ultimate endgame to his MCU tenure. Cox is all set to return to the iconic superhero role in the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, with the actor revealing at FAN EXPO San Francisco (via @MCU_Direct) that he wants to play Matt Murdock for the next few decades…and hopes his final outing can take inspiration from Hugh Jackman’s Logan.

“They’re getting ready to release a comic that takes place where Matt Murdock is in his 60s, so I was like, ‘Oh, okay, great, so we got some time.'”

The comic that Cox is referring to is an upcoming title, “Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell.” Created by best-selling artist Steve McNiven (“Civil War”) and New York Times best-selling author Charles Soule (“Death of Wolverine”), the comic will launch in April this year and has been described as being “in the same spirit” as McNiven’s previous work, “Old Man Logan,” which went on to inspire 2017’s acclaimed X-Men outing, Logan.

Much like the Wolverine-centered story before it, “Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell” will follow an aged Matt Murdock who, having lost his powers, sees them suddenly return. Until then, Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil as he fully joins the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again. The first trailer for the series has now been released, and finds Murdock working for Wilson Fisk, who has since become mayor. The series is by far one of the most highly-anticipated Marvel projects for some time, and stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, with the rest of the cast including Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, AKA The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, and Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, AKA Bullseye, as well as Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, and Genneya Walton. Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 is due for release on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, with Cox also revealing at the Fan Expo that Season 2 will begin filming later this year.

“It’s been so many years since we released any Daredevil content. I’m really excited about it. By the time we release [Born Again] on March 4th, we’ll already be shooting season 2. So it’s just a gift that keeps on giving, really.”
