Britney Spears Manager Debunks Claims He Thought SNL Memoir Sketch was “Pathetic”
Nov 24, 2023
Summary
Britney Spears and her manager were not bothered by the Saturday Night Live sketch parodying her memoir, despite reports to the contrary. The Instagram account that criticized the sketch was actually a fake fan account impersonating Britney’s manager. Studios are engaged in a bidding war for the rights to Britney Spears’ memoir, as biographical movies based on pop stars are currently popular in Hollywood.
It is not just Saturday Night Live that can pull out a convincing parody when it comes to the world of Britney Spears. After the show aired a sketch on last weekend’s show, which saw a number of stars reading “excerpts” from the singer’s recent memoir, it was reported that her manager was not happy at all with the comedy series poking fun at his client. However, it seems that the account making the statements is a fake account, and Britney’s manager, and the star herself, were not bothered about the sketch at all.
It was reported widely that the Instagram account of Britney’s manager, Cade Hudson, had put out a message to the world condemning the sketch, calling out the quality of the show’s writing and branding the whole thing as “pathetic.” The full reported statement can be seen in the post below, which was shared by Pop Crave on X.
However, within a few hours, Vanity Fair dropped the bombshell that this account is not actually one run by Hudson, but is instead a fake fan account. In a clarifying statement Hudson wrote:
“Unfortunately there’s a lot of fake impersonators in the Britney world and that was a meme created by one of them. This was made by a fan site and people thought it was me.”
Hudson continued to further note that not only were the reports of anger aimed at the show and its stars untrue, but that Britney “loves loves Chloe and SNL.” He ended by reiterating, “This isn’t real at all.”

Britney Spears Memoir is in a Streaming Bidding War
As you would expect, the autobiography of one of the biggest pop stars of a generation garners quite a bit of interest, especially given Britney’s very public troubles over the last several years. As a fascinating look into the mind of the star, it is therefore no surprise that studios are quite eager to get their hands on the rights to the book.
Recently, biographical movies based on pop stars have become a big seller at the box office. From Bohemian Rhapsody to Elvis, whether it is factual or a little bit fantastic, musical dramas are as much in vogue right now as Hollywood’s obsession with reboots and remakes. Therefore, it was always going to be just a matter of time before Britney’s story joined the list of projects in contention for the big or small screen in the coming years.
Several studios have reportedly joined a fierce bidding war for the manuscript, with the likes of Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video and other studios all wanting the chance to develop Britney’s story into a movie or limited series while it is still dominant in the public eye. Now that the Hollywood strikes are over, content creation is once again king in the entertainment world, and nabbing this particular piece would certainly be a coup for whoever takes the prize.
Britney Spears’ memoir, Woman in Me, is out now in hardback.
