Carmy & The Gang Return To The Dysfunctional Kitchen On June 27
May 29, 2024
“If it’s not perfect, it doesn’t go out,” is the new tagline for everyone’s favorite dysfunctional family and kitchen drama, “The Bear,” from FX, which returns for season three on Hulu on June 27. Starring Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, all of whom have become fast-rising stars ever since the series took off in the summer of 2022, “The Bear” continues the drama and saga of Carmy and his cohorts going all-in on a fine dining establishment in Chicago, and trying to stay afloat despite demanding overhead costs. And as those who know the show well, it ended on something of a cliffhanger: Carmy is trapped in a freezer, talking about his fears, and letting down his guard of perfectionism for love and alienating his girlfriend, Claire (Molly Gordon)—who inadvertently heard his rant—in the process.

But Gordon returns for season three, so we at least know the series will try and give them a shot to work things out. The half-hour series also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and the aforementioned Gordon in recurring roles. It looks like Jon Bernthal also returns in his more minor cameo role.
“The Bear” could be coming to an end soon, too. FX tried to shoot seasons three and four back to back this year, though the big rumor is that it failed to happen, and season four won’t shoot til next year. The reason for all this is that White, Edebiri, and Moss-Bachrach are all becoming massive stars and amassing a lot of major lead roles, so scheduling will be an issue. Even “The Bear” creator and co-showrunner Christopher Storer—who acts as Executive Producer alongside co-showrunner Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, and Hiro Murai— has been signing up for new projects and even set up new FX shows, so it seems like everyone is planning their exit strategies.
Here’s the season three synopsis:
Season three of FX’s The Bear follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they do what it takes to elevate The Bear, their beef stand turned fine dining establishment, to the highest level, all while doing their best just to stay in business. It’s a losing battle every single day in the restaurant business. Carmy pushes himself harder than ever and demands excellence from his crew, who do their best to match his intensity.
Their quest for culinary excellence will propel the crew to new levels and stress the bonds that hold the restaurant together. As the team grows in size, each member will strive to reach a greater level of service within their role. In the restaurant industry, you’re never on solid ground, and with that ever-changing landscape comes new challenges and opportunities. Our chefs have learned that every second counts, but this season, we’ll find out if they have what it takes to make it to tomorrow.
Whatever happens with “The Bear,” it at least has two seasons to go, this upcoming one and the fourth, and Storer hasn’t failed to make this show utterly compelling, so hopefully that doesn’t change. Season three arrives on June 27. Watch the first full official trailer below.
