Clark Johnson To Have Recurring Role & Direct Two Episodes Of Upcoming Disney+ MCU Series

May 19, 2023

“Daredevil: Born Again” may be the most anticipated Marvel series heading to Disney+ in Phases 5 and 6. And why’s that? For one, the reboot sees Charlie Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdoch from the original Netflix series. And Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal also return as Kingpin and The Punisher, respectively. Add in an 18-episode run, much longer than any other MCU show for Disney+ so far, and that’s a lot of Daredevil content on the way.

But while fans of the superhero wait for the show’s early 2024 release, Deadline has news about another talent involved in the series. And this one’s a one-two punch: Clark Johnson will have a recurring role on “Born Again” and also direct two episodes. Deadline confirms Johnson’s role on the series is under wraps, but he may be playing Randolph Cherryh from the “Daredevil” comics, a corrupt congressman with ties to Kingpin.
Johnson joins a supporting cast that already includes the likes of Margarita Levieva, Arty Froushan, Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, and Nikki M. James. Production on the series got underway in February.
As an actor-director, Johnson has a lot of TV credits to his name for both.  HBO subscribers will recognize him as news editor Gus Haynes from “The Wire” Season 5. Other TV roles for Johnson include the Amazon series “Alpha House,” NBC‘s “Homicide: Life On The Street,” and the Paramount+ show “Evil.”
Johnson has lots of recent directing credits, too: three episodes each for Showtime‘s “Your Honor” and “City On A Hill“; two episodes of the Max limited series “Love & Death” and Paramount+’s “Mayor Of Kingstown“; and one episode each for Fox‘s “Accused,” ABC‘s “Alaska Daily,” and CBS‘ “Evil.” He also has a Marvel credit to his name already, having directed an episode of “Luke Cage.” On the film front, Johnson also helmed “Percy V. Goliath,” “S.W.A.T.,” and “The Sentinel.”
There’s no official release date for “Daredevil: Born Again” yet, but expect it on Disney+ in late winter/early spring 2024. There’s already a second season of the show planned, too, so it’s a good time to be a Matt Murdoch fan.
