Daredevil’s Vincent D’Onofrio Would Love Kingpin to be the New Owner of Avengers Tower

Aug 16, 2023

Marvel Studios love to leave questions unanswered for years in the MCU. One such loose thread is exactly who bought Avengers Tower from Tony Stark. The iconic location has been seen in a number of subsequent Marvel productions in the five years since it was revealed that the building has a new owner, and there has still been no confirmation of who that could be. One popular fan theory, spurred on by a recent returnee to the Marvel world is that the former Avengers building is now in the possession of Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk. In a recent panel at ICCCon Nashville, Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio was hit with the direct question of whether his character now owns Avengers Tower.

As reported by Comicbook.com, D’Onofrio was clever to avoid giving a specific answer and instead skirted around the query by offering up how he would feel if that were to be true instead. He said:

“I didn’t know I was sitting with a real journalist. I know that Vincent D’Onofrio would be interested in that if he could afford it, but unfortunately cannot. No, I don’t know. I heard that too. That’s the first time I’ve heard of anything like that. I have no idea. Are you asking me if I think it would be really cool? Yeah, it’d be really cool. Totally. I would love to do that.”

Fans will likely find out the answer when Daredevil: Born Again comes to Disney+. Currently, the series is filming around the writer’s strike and is expected to hit the streaming platform in Spring 2024. However, Marvel Studios have been very fluid with the release of their Marvel shows, with Secret Invasion having been pushed back a few months this year, along with Loki season 2 which now doesn’t arrive until October.

Kingpin is a Big Player in the MCU’s Future.
When Daredevil was canceled at Netflix, there was a long period of uncertainty around whether the characters would be appearing in the MCU and if they would be still played by the same actors. Those questions were answered in later 2021, when Kingpin made his first MCU appearance in Hawkeye and at the same time Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Since then, Cox has appeared as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but D’Onofrio is yet to make his next appearance as Wilson Fisk. That doesn’t mean that his purpose in the MCU isn’t going to be far-reaching. There have been plenty of rumors about some big plans for Kingpin’s future, which could, according to the actor himself, even see him “kicking Spider-Man’s ass.”

Both D’Onofrio and Cox are expected to appear in Echo later this year, when it will be the first Marvel series to have all episodes released at once, and then again in Daredevil: Born Again. There is a lot to be revealed about both of these shows, and that means that there could be any number of surprises to come, including the reveal of where Kingpin is building his new empire.
