Earth’ Teaser Sends FX Horror Series Crashing to Earth

Jan 28, 2025

Alien: Earth is set to premiere this summer on FX and Hulu, and while the new series has yet to reveal a firm release date, the latest teaser trailer is an unsettling ride through the eyes of a Xenomorph that certainly delivers on what the show’s title promises. Starring Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, and Alex Lawther to name a few, Alien: Earth will serve as a prequel to the original 1979 film Alien, taking place two years before the events that happened on the Nostromo.
The new teaser trailer for Alien: Earth (seen below) is shot from the POV of a xenomorph rushing through a spaceship as alarm bells sound and the words “containment breach” echo over the comm system. Red lights flash as the creature makes its way through narrow corridors before finally smashing against a hull door that fails to break. From there, the camera spins wildly out of control, and we watch as the ship descends toward Earth where it’s destined to crash, causing all sorts of problems for the population when said Xenomorphs break loose.

How Alien’s Ash Became the Franchise’s Greatest Secondary Villain

By allowing an alien creature on board the Nostromo, Ash launched the Alien franchise.

This is the second teaser trailer for Alien: Earth, with the first confirming when the series takes place in the timeline. It was initially believed to be set some 30 years before the events in the 1979 film, but with the year 2120 being front and center, we now know it takes place just two years before Alien, which was set in 2122. The premise for the show seems simple, but as we’ve come to expect from the franchise, look for nothing to be as it seems, especially when it comes to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

“When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”

‘Alien: Earth’ Will Make You Want to “Lock Your Doors”

Created by Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo), Alien: Earth comes hot on the heels of 2024’s Alien: Romulus, which was directed by Fede Álvarez and earned more than $350 million at the box office to become one of the year’s biggest horror hits. The new show has undoubtedly helped to spark renewed interest in the franchise, especially when you consider it’s the first live-action series to grace the small screen.
When it comes to what fans can expect from Alien: Earth, Hawley told Deadline last year at the Emmy Awards that the series is definitely leaning into its horror elements, so much so that it will make you want to “lock your door” at night. Don’t we all do that anyway?

“There’s something about seeing a Xenomorph in the wilds of Earth with your own eyes that is truly chilling to think of it moving here among us. I can’t tell you under what circumstances you’ll see that, but you’ll see it, and you’re going to lock your door that night.”

Look for Alien: Earth to premiere later this year on FX and Hulu, and check out Alien: Romulus streaming now on Hulu as well.
