The Curse is far from the only intriguing project on the horizon for The Favourite star Emma Stone, with the acclaimed actress set to lead this year’s black comedy fantasy film, Poor Things. Reuniting with director Yorgos Lanthimos, Stone has already received applause for her performance in Poor Things following the film’s premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival earlier this month. So powerful is Stone’s performance in Poor Things that she is now a favorite for Best Actress at the next Academy Awards.

“A young woman, Bella, is brought back to life by her guardian, the scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. Initially naïve, Bella is eager to learn about the world around her, albeit under Baxter’s protection,” the synopsis for Poor Things reads. “Wanting to see more, she runs off with Duncan Wedderburn, a slick and debauched lawyer, and travels across continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella demands equality and liberation.”

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay by Tony McNamara and based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray, Poor Things stars Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael alongside Emma Stone.

The Curse meanwhile is now scheduled to premiere on streaming and on-demand for all Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on Friday, November 10, before making its linear debut on Showtime on Sunday, November 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Internationally, the series is due to debut on Paramount+ on November 10 in Canada and on November 11 in the United Kingdom, Australia, Latin America, South Korea, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
