Shardlake is a new historical drama series based on C. J. Sansom’s bestselling novels of the same name. The Contestant is an upcoming documentary film that chronicles the story of Tomoaki Hamatsu, a Japanese man who lived inside a small room, naked and hungry, unaware that his life was being broadcast to millions of people. Starring Tomoaki Hamatsu himself, The Contestant will recount the true story of what happened during the reality TV show that smashed all records with 17 million viewers each week. Apparently, Hamatsu was paid a million yen ($8000) to see if he could survive alone with just magazines to keep him company. The Contestant will be released on Hulu on May 2.
