Every Original TV Series Coming to Netflix in December 2023
Dec 3, 2023
‘Tis the season for Netflix to wheel the fairy lights, tinsel, and baubles out from that dusty box in the shed as its algorithm begins to churn out Christmas-based suggestions for everyone to indulge in… or not. Surprisingly, despite December’s traditional festivities, Netflix clearly hasn’t received the memo, at least as far as its output of new Christmas series is concerned. That said, what the streaming giant has planned is definitely worth getting excited about, and in some instances, it really is like Christmas has come early. Let’s look at all the original series coming to Netflix in December.
Sweet Home
Streaming Dec. 1
South Korea is a nation currently leading the way in terms of the quality of its output in the television and film industries. From the global phenomenon that was Squid Game to Bong Joon-Ho’s Academy Award romp with his cinematic masterpiece, Parasite, there has been an overabundance of noteworthy titles coming out of the Southeast Asian country in recent years.
Sweet Home continues that trend as another product of the booming industry in South Korea. Originally a web series that recorded over 2 billion views in 2020, the streaming giant picked up the highly anticipated second season and is due to land on Netflix at the start of December. The second season is set to detail the rest of the titular character, Cha Hyun-soo’s (Song Kang) journey as he attempts to evade this pandemic of humans turning into monsters.

Carol & the End of the World
Streaming Dec. 15
Netflix
Netflix has, year by year, begun to fashion an exciting assembly of original animations in both feature form and for the platform’s original series collection. As of Dec. 15, another title will be added to that list, with Carol & the End of the World scheduled to premiere. This limited adult animation series by the acclaimed writer of Rick and Morty as well as Community, Dan Guterman, will hit our screens on Dec. 6 with a 10-part installment.
The show’s basic premise follows the lead, Carol (voiced by Martha Kelly), who must navigate the seemingly imminent end of the world as a mysterious planet hurtles toward Earth. While the rest of the world celebrates a sense of liberation, diving headfirst into over-indulgence, Carol takes an altogether different approach.

I Hate Christmas Season 2
Streaming Dec. 7
Netflix
Surprisingly, the only Netflix Original offering that actually has anything to do with Christmas. I Hate Christmas Season 2 certainly doesn’t sound like a show that embraces the festive period, but as the first season demonstrates, this rom-com is far from what it says on the tin. While little has been revealed about the plot of the next installment of this Italian-language series, several of the first season’s cast are set to reprise their roles for this Christmas Cracker.
