Every TV Series Leaving Netflix in August 2023

Aug 1, 2023

Netflix, given its massive pool of options to choose from, it’s easy to assume we can stream any TV series at our leisure. It is true, but only to a certain extent, as although numerous shows like Stranger Things, Lucifer, and many others have been lying around on the platform for years, there is a catch. Many TV shows that you could have been added to your list leave the streaming service on a regular basis and, more often than not, on a monthly basis.

In July, Netflix had to let go of some popular series such as Chappelle’s Show, A Touch of Green, and Baby Ballroom, perhaps, due to licensing issues or some other unknown concerns. In any case, the coming month of August also appears to be a big blow for the subscribers who may have been planning to watch a few shows but were unable to do due to time constraints. So, without further ado, here are the best TV series leaving Netflix in August 2023.

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Season 1-5 (August 1)
Toei Animation

Some animated shows are designed to instill a love of cartoons, even in grown-ups, and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir is just that. The series, which combines a plethora of genres such as action, comedy, fantasy, and romance, offers something that is absent from modern television.

The series centers around two characters, Marionette, a shy and clumsy teenage girl, and Adrien Agreste, a professional teenage model who is the dream boy for many girls. However, unbeknownst to each other, they both gain superpowers from magical creatures known as Kwami, and their mission is to protect the city of Paris from the evil Hawk Moth.

Surviving Escobar – Alias JJ Season 1 (August 1)
Netflix

Surviving Escobar – Alias JJ may be one of the most underrated Netflix Originals as it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, and perhaps that’s why the streaming platform chose to remove the series. It provides a similar vibe akin to Narcos but turns into more than just a carbon copy with a series of shocking plot twists and character arcs.

The series follows a ruthless assassin named JJ alias John Jairo Velasquez who turned himself in after committing several murders to survive in the criminal world. However, when his close associates are being taken out one by one, he’s forced to take drastic measures to keep his family safe.

Search WWW (August 1)
tvN

Netflix is a great place to find Korean dramas, and it even competes with niche services such as Viki and Viu. There are countless fan-adored dramas in his repertoire, and Search WWW is arguably one of them, which is, unfortunately, leaving the streaming platform this August.

Especially considering that we don’t have many successful business dramas aside from Start-Up, Search WWW is among the least that instills enormous confidence in the viewers. The drama revolves around Bae Ta Mi (Im Soo Jung), a successful woman in her late 30s who works as a director for a big web portal company.

However, despite her competitiveness and willingness to do whatever is necessary to achieve her ambitions, she begins to question whether she has sacrificed too much of her life to reach this point. Enter Park Mo Gun (Jang Ki Yong), a gifted composer who inadvertently becomes the hope of Bae Ta Mi’s life upon encountering her at an arcade.

The Crowned Clown Season 1 (August 9)
tvN

Some Korean dramas in the industry represent the fact that why they are the future of Asian cinema, and The Crowned Clown may be our solution for that. The series, which tackles the underappreciated concept of historical politics, managed to create an electrifying plot with mind-blowing cinematography that left the viewers awestruck at the level of quality.

The drama, set in the Joseon period of Korea, addresses the situation of the uprising power struggle of King Yi Heon (Yeon Jim Goo). After learning the imminent threat of being assassinated by those who are greedy for the throne, he brings a clown named Ha Sun to the palace, who looks just like himself. If you have been delaying watching his K-drama for a while, you should do so before it departs from Netflix.

Kongsuni and Friends Season 1-2 (August 11)
Netflix

Time and again, Netflix has proved that it is not only for adults but can also entertain younger kids who simply desire beautiful adventures in their day-to-day lives. With the ever-growing technology, it has become the norm for children to spend more time on screens, but it could be influenced positively by shows like Kongsuni and Friends, which won’t be available on Netflix for much longer.

The series is about a five-year-old girl named Kongsuni, who, although treating her life as an adventure and sometimes disregarding her parents’ concern, learns from it and fixes the wrong behavior, serving as a great example for the modern generation’s kids. The series, along with many other exciting ones we have mentioned above, leaves Netflix on August 11.
