With the second season of Prime Video’s Reacher in the rearview mirror, fans are optimistically looking forward to Season 3. Season 2 drew criticism from viewers and was somewhat of a disappointment for many reasons, but fans of the series are hopeful the upcoming season will make the necessary adjustments and resemble more of what viewers loved about Season 1. The show’s inaugural season was considered a success with audiences and critics alike, and its characters were a significant part of that. Based on the book series by Lee Child, the show has been adapting its seasons out of sequence with the books, given how they are written. Because of this, there are a multitude of new characters that can be introduced as the Prime Video series progresses.

The next installment of Reacher is slated to follow Persuader, the seventh book in the franchise. As such, a slew of new characters will enter the fray as Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) takes on a drug smuggler in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Ritchson is clearly set to return as the show’s title character, but a handful of others will join his side as well. While there have already been a few confirmations as to which characters will be returning and which ones will be brand new, there are certainly a couple of characters audiences would love to see return to the wildly popular series.

Maria Stern as Frances Neagley
Confirmed Returning Character

Aside from Ritchson’s Reacher, Neagley (Maria Stern) is slated to return, which should be no surprise to avid viewers. A former member of the 110th MP Special Investigations Unit, she’s become Reacher’s closest confidante and the only character to star in both seasons alongside him. As a private investigator working in Chicago, Neagley has used her connections and skills multiple times to assist Reacher throughout the show’s first two seasons. Given Reacher’s tendency to go wherever the wind takes him, his connection to Neagley acts as a necessary tether to his past as well as the broader world around them. In many ways, she acts as a home base for the beloved nomadic character.

Confirmed New Character

Zachary Beck is a new character that will be introduced in Season 3 of Reacher and played by Anthony Michael Hall, well known for his John Hughes films from the ’80s as well as the popular series The Dead Zone. Beck is a successful businessman who owns a rug import company that seems legitimate on the surface. However, Reacher and members of the DEA believe the business is merely a front for a larger drug smuggling operation. A widower and father of a 20-year-old son named Richard, Beck begins to trust Reacher after his son is “rescued” following a staged kidnapping at the hands of the DEA. With Reacher undercover and on the inside, Beck’s illegal operations may have seen their final days.

Sonya Cassidy as Susan Duffy
Confirmed New Character

Susan Duffy is also a new character that will be introduced next season, and she’ll be played by Sonya Cassidy, best known for her role in Lodge 49. Duffy is an intelligent but tough DEA agent and will presumably work with Reacher as they seek to thwart Beck’s operations. In the books, Duffy’s character eventually develops a romantic relationship with Reacher. However, given the backlash the previous season endured after the seemingly forced relationship between Reacher and Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), it’s unclear whether such a storyline will come to fruition.

Malcolm Goodwin as Oscar Finlay
Potential Returning Character

After his brief cameo in Season 2, Oscar Finlay might make another appearance in the upcoming season, although there are no confirmations about such an appearance just yet. Portrayed by Malcolm Goodwin, the fan-favorite delighted viewers when he appeared midway through the show’s second season after Reacher contacted him to aid in his investigation.

Initially the Chief of Detectives at the Margrave Police Department, Finlay relocated to Boston after the events of Season 1, where he is now a Lieutenant working as a detective for the Boston Police Department. Given Reacher likes to call on old friends to help him with his new adventures, it’s entirely possible fans haven’t seen the last of Finlay.

Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin
Potential Returning Character

Of all the Reacher characters fans hope to see return the most, Roscoe Conklin may be at the top of the list. Played by Willa Fitzgerald, Roscoe only appeared in Season 1 despite viewers’ desire for her to appear in the show’s sophomore season. A police officer at the Margrave Police Department, Roscoe was raised by her grandmother after the death of her parents. Subsequently taken under the wing of her parent’s best friend, Roscoe learned everything about what it took to be a good and decent police officer from him before his death.

Although small in stature, Roscoe remains tough as nails and has no problems going toe to toe with Reacher, which makes her character all the more likable. While there are no hints as to when/if her character will ever return, fans certainly want to see it happen. Seasons 1 and 2 of Reacher are currently streaming on Prime Video.
