Katee Sackhoff Disappointed That Bo-Katan’s Original William Wallace-Style Speech in THE MANDALORIAN Was Cut Down — GeekTyrant

Jun 25, 2023

During a recent interview on The Big Thing, Katee Sackhoff, she talked about Bo-Katan’s big rallying speech in The Mandalorian Season 3 before they embarked on a journey to take back their home planet of Mandalore. It turns out that the speech was originally much longer than what we ended up getting and Sackhoff was disappointed that it was cut down. This was supposed to be like the big William Wallace speech from the 1995 historical epic Braveheart. That speech set the bar for rallying speeches in movies. When Sackhoff was asked to expand on a couple of scenes that she was disappointed with, she said:”And that was what — the comparison you made, was this is the rousing thing. You’re inspiring these two separate clans to get out there and go retake their home world, it has to be emotional; it has to be big. And for whatever reason, it got cut down a lot… I love this entire season, I thought it was fun, but that one moment for me, I was like, ‘Oh.’ I wish that they’d given more context to what had happened right before. Because I think that it would have made that speech land heavier… The majority of the takes I did were, you know, William Wallace-esque.”It’s a shame that we won’t get to see that big emotional rallying speech that Bo-Katan gave. I always thought the one we got was a little lackluster, but they originally did have something better! Not sure why they couldn’t have included the full speech.During the conversation, it was brought up that there could be more time for dialogue on the episodes of the show were a little longer. It’s not like these shows on Disney+ are bound to a strict time limit. When asked about that the actress said:”Honestly, I really don’t know what that is. You know, when we’re in it, it feels like they’re longer. I’m always surprised how quick they go, because the episodes — there’s so many people that work on this show, there’s so many moving parts, it’s so expensive to shoot, and it has always surprised me that they’re as short as they are.”There’s no doubt that the budget plays a big part in the length of the episodes, but it doesn’t seem like it would be a big deal to include a proper “take back Mandalore” rallying speech.
