Live Action Superman Will Soon Get the Reboot Treatment in Superman: Legacy
Warner Bros. Pictures
Outside of animation, the Man of Steel will soon receive the reboot treatment as part of director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran’s recalibrated DCU. Titled Superman: Legacy, the reboot will be the first movie in the first chapter of the DCU, and will focus on a younger Superman, leaving Henry Cavill behind in favor of another actor. “Superman Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” the recent synopsis for Superman: Legacy reads. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
While we still have no idea who will play the new Superman, with James Gunn debunking all sorts of rumors, it has been confirmed that Gunn will both write and direct Superman: Legacy for DC Studios. Superman: Legacy is scheduled for release on July, 11, 2025.
My Adventures with Superman meanwhile was announced some time ago, and is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. The creative team behind the DC series includes several veterans, including Sam Register (Batman: The Killing Joke), Jake Wyatt (Invader ZIM: Enter the Florpus, Ducktales), Brendan Clogher (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Reign of the Supermen), and Josie Campbell (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power).
