Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Meghann Fahy, Jack Reynor & More In Talks To Star In Upcoming Netflix Limited Series

Mar 23, 2023

Add another prestige limited TV series to Nicole Kidman‘s filmography. Deadline reports that the actress is in talks to star in the upcoming Netflix show “The Perfect Couple,” based on Elin Hilderbrand‘s 2018 mystery novel. The six-episode series follows a Nantucket native set to marry the man of her dreams on the 4th of July, only for a dead body found in the harbor to upend her perfect day.

So who will join Kidman for the whodunnit on the Grey Lady?  Liev Schreiber leads the rest of the cast list, including intriguing names like Jack Reynor, Dakota Fanning, and “The White Lotus” S2 breakout Meghann Fahey.  Eve Hewson, who co-stars in “Flora And Son” with Reynor, is also on board.
“The Perfect Couple” also sees Kidman reunite with “The Undoing” director Susanne Bier for the series. So, after that crime series, Kidman and Bier want to do another one. And Fanning has worked with Bier before, too, on Showtime‘s “The First Lady.” As for producers, Gail Berman’s The Jackal Group and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps lead the way.
Kidman already has a lot upcoming projects in the pipeline, including Prime Video‘s “ExPats,” Taylor Sheridan‘s CIA drama “Lionness” for Paramount+, and Mimi Cave‘s sophomore effort “Holland, Michigan,” also for Prime Video. She appears next in “A Family Affair” with Zac Efron and Joey King on Netflix.
As for Schreiber, the “Ray Donovan” star’s next project is “A Small Light,” a limited series about Anne Frank for Disney+. That show premieres on May 1. He also has Guy Nattiv‘s “Golda” on deck, which recently had its world premiere at the Berlinale in February. The actor also stars in Wes Anderson‘s upcoming “Asteroid City,” which, with any luck, will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Fahy wowed HBO audiences in the second season of “The White Lotus” last year. Up next, she has “The Unbreakable Boy” with Zach Levy over at Lionsgate. Upcoming projects for Fanning include “The Equalizer 3,” while Reynor and Hewson have the previously mentioned “Flora And Son,” which premiered at Sundance in January.
Elin Hilderbrand’s “beach reads” are super-popular, so if “The Perfect Couple” is a hit for Netflix, don’t be surprised if they go to the well again for another limited series. And that well will never dry up, as Hilderbrand has 28 novels to her name, along with several short stories. As for when “The Perfect Couple” begins shooting on Nantucket, chances are it’s this summer.
