Peacock’s Three-Part Event About The Origins Of The ‘John Wick’ Hotel Premieres This September

Apr 12, 2023

As “John Wick: Chapter 4” continues its run in theaters, with over $306.6 million made at the box office, it’s time to start considering the franchise’s future. Will Keanu Reeves ever return to Chad Stahelski‘s series? Both actor and director are cagey in answering that question. But Reeves shows up in Len Wiseman‘s spin-off “Ballerina” with Ana de Armas next year, so this action franchise isn’t over quite yet.

And Peacock‘s “The Continental” expands the world of “John Wick” even further. The three-part limited series hits the streamer this Fall, and serves as a prequel about the origins of the iconic NYC hotel for elite assassins.
Here’s an official synopsis for the series, courtesy of Peacock:
The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.
So who star in “The Continental”?  Mel Gibson leads the ensemble, with Colin Woodell, Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, and Hubert Point-Du Jour also starring.  Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb, and Peter Greene round out the main cast.
Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons develop “The Continental,” writing the series and serving as executive producers. Other executive producers include Stahelski, Albert Hughes, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Marshall Persinger.  Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee also executive produce through Thunder Roads Pictures. Hughes and Charlotte Brandstorm share directing duties over the three parts.
With its 1970s NYC backdrop, expect “The Continental” to be a seedier rendition of the “John Wick” world. But how will this three-part event measure up to Stahelski’s film? Check out the teaser below for a preview of the series, which premieres on Peacock this September.
