For those unfamiliar with the game series, here’s an official synopsis that explains the show’s post-apocalyptic set-up:
Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.
Fans already know “Fallout” will feature game characters like Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) and Ma Dune (Dale Dickey), but a slew of other intriguing actors join lead Ella Purnell on the show’s ensemble cast. “Fallout” also stars Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Moisés Arias, Kyle MacLachan, Michael Emerson, and Leslie Uggams. Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, and Johnny Pemberton also star. Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagen, and Zelia Mendes-Jones round out the main cast.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners on “Fallout.” Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy also co-executive produce the series through Kilter Films, with Nolan directing its first three episodes. Athena Wickman also serves as executive producer through Kilter Films, along with Todd Howard through Bethesda Game Studios and James Altman for Bethesda Softworks.
Check out the first trailer for “Fallout” below, which promises the show will maintain the games’ dark humor and singular retro-futuristic world. All eight episodes of the series premiere on Prime Video on April 11 (that’s one day earlier than initially announced).
