Secret Invasion’s Secret Website Has Fans Thinking This Actor Is a Skrull

Jun 27, 2023

Marvel’s Secret Invasion is set to premiere on June 21. And to get everyone hyped, Marvel set up a website playing a sneak preview of the first five minutes of the miniseries. But hold your horses because it’s not that easy to get in. Secret Invasion plays like a classic 80s spy thriller. And if you want to see Marvel’s sneak peek, you need a password.

Secret Invasion is Marvel’s next step in Phase 5, and it will be the first MCU project led by Nick Fury, aka Samuel L. Jackson. Secret Invasion follows the comic book event of the same name. Nick Fury will face off against the Skrulls: a shape-shifting alien race threatening to conquer the entire planet. A lot of your favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could really be aliens in disguise.

That’s what a lot of Marvel fans think. Those that have been waiting for Secret Invasion for a long time have a theory about Agent Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), who appears in this five-minute preview. Some fans think he’s been a secret Skrull ever since he showed up in Captain America: Civil War and his scene on this encrypted website might confirm that claim.

Secret Invasion was originally a Marvel Comics event featuring Skrulls infiltrating your favorite comic books. It was a massive crossover event that lasted seven months and involved nearly every super team, from the Avengers to the X-Men. For a short period of time in the Marvel world, readers had no idea who was a Skrull and who wasn’t. It led to hundreds of conspiracy theories amongst fans, and stories became eerily haunted by the “what if” potential of a Skrull impersonating someone’s favorite superhero.

That’s precisely what’s going on here. The Skrulls were first introduced to the MCU back in Captain Marvel, where Ben Mendelsohn played a grumpy Talos. The aliens claimed to be refugees, and Nick Fury struck a deal with them, agreeing to shelter the small group on Earth and attempting to establish a new home for the species. What Fury didn’t expect was for more and more of them to come, using their shape-shifting abilities to replace certain humans in positions of power.

However, not all Skrulls are bad. In the comics, these aliens trying to conquer Earth are part of an evil faction of radical Skrulls attempting to control the galaxy. So things will get a little more complicated as the plot is revealed. Soon, we won’t know who to trust.

Now, in this sneak preview, we see a paranoid Agent Prescod who believes he’s uncovered the problem. Everett Ross comes to him in disbelief, uncertain that there’s even a problem at all. Not unlike Charlie from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia explaining the Pepe Silvia conspiracy, Agent Prescod connects the dots that are meant to reveal a Skrull invasion.

Agent Ross refuses to call Fury down from S.A.B.E.R., Earth’s brand-new orbital defense against an alien invasion – Marvel fans have been waiting a long time for this to be unveiled. When Agent Prescod finally brings hard evidence forward, Ross offers to take it to Fury himself, and Prescod tackles him to the ground. It points towards a fan theory some people have had for a while.

Comic book fans have maintained this theory for quite a while. It’s been one of the more popular conspiracies among Marvel fans. A lot of people have thought that Everett Ross has been a Skrull ever since Captain America: Civil War. He’s taken a very specific place in the MCU.

His position has put him close to the Government and the Avengers alike. And his role in interacting with the Wakandans has placed him right next to all the vibranium in the world. If he were to be a Skrull spy, Agent Ross would stand at an incredibly valuable nexus of resources and information.

If Everett Ross is a Skrull, MCU fans may have to go back through his appearances in the Marvel universe and start questioning the character’s motives. If they decide to retcon the three films he was in, making him a Skrull this entire time, it will force everyone to take another look at who might be a Skrull, and it will validate many fan theories as well. Watch Marvel’s 5-minute special preview and decide for yourself. Below we’ve listed the covert website and the password you’ll need to gain access.
