Perhaps sensing that the movie release slate in November would overwhelm many of us, television has slowed down (a touch) with most of the month, including returns of TV favorites. While shows like the much debated and buzzed about “The Crown” will see dominance in the discourse, there are also shows such as “Mythic Quest,” which has been overshadowed by some of its more audience-friendly streaming peers (like “Ted Lasso”) and “Gangs of London” which created a small but loyal following in its first season. 
While “Andor” ends this month, Disney+ has a new, nostalgia-filled series to take its place with the premiere of “Willow,” a sequel to the 1988 original film. Elsewhere, watch for stars like Jesse Eisenberg, Jenna Ortega, and Kumail Nanjiani to lead their own new shows, be they adaptations or original series. 
“The Mosquito Coast”
Developed by Neil Cross and Tom Bissell and based on the novel of the same name by Paul Theroux, Apple TV’s “The Mosquito Coast” returns for its second season. With the first season ending where the film starring Harrison Ford began, season two finds the Fox family trying to get used to their new off-the-grid status with a community of refugees. Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish, and Gabriel Bateman all return.

“The Crown”
Despite facing criticism for its dramatization of actual events, which will require a disclaimer before the episodes, season five of Netflix’s “The Crown” remains highly anticipated due to the recasting of all the leading roles. Set in the 1990s, Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Elizabeth Debicki, Lesley Manville, Dominic West, and Jonny Lee Miller star, with all episodes written by Peter Morgan. Season five will continue to depict Diana and Charles’s fraught, highly publicized, contentious relationship.

“The English”
Chaske Spencer (“Wild Indian,” “Blindspot”) stars as Pawnee scout Eli Whipp who, after being released from his long-term army service in 1890 Oklahoma, returns north to Nebraska to stake a legal land claim. His story intersects with that of an Englishwoman, played by Emily Blunt, who seeks revenge on the man she blames for her son’s death. Written and directed by Hugo Blick (“Black Earth Rising”), the Western series also stars Rafe Spall, Stephen Rea, Tom Hughes, and more.
Release Date: Season one premieres November 11 on Amazon Prime.
“Mythic Quest”
Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicado, and Danny Pudi return for season three of Apple’s “Mythic Quest,” following Ian and Poppy as they’ve branched out to create their own company, following the end of season two where they realized ‘Ravens Banquet’ had no more room to grow. Created by McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz, the comedy workplace series remains one of the funniest on television. Jessie Ennis, Ashly Burch, David Hornsby, and Imani Hakim also star.

“Yellowstone”
Returning for its fifth season with a two-hour premiere, “Yellowstone” continues to follow the story of the Dutton family as their legacy is jeopardized due to shifting alliances and an increasing number of enemies. Kevin Costner stars as the Dutton patriarch with an ensemble cast that includes Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and Kelsey Asbille.
Release Date: Season five premieres November 13 on Paramount+.
“Tulsa King”
Sylvester Stallone stars in “The Tulsa King,” his first television role. Stallone plays Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York-based mafia capo who has just been released from prison after 25 years and must build a new crew. Taylor Sheridan, who has found success through his popular series “Yellowstone,” is credited with creating the new series, which also stars Max Casella, Vincent Piazza, Domenick Lombardozzi, Andrea Savage, and Garrett Hedlund.

“Gangs of London”
Created by Gareth Evans (“The Raid”), season two of “Gangs of London” picks up a year following the events of season one. The characters must deal with the collapse of the Wallace Dumani empire as a new gang leader is tasked with restoring the status quo. Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Paapa Essiedu, Lucian Msamati, Michelle Fairley, Orli Shuka, Pippa Bennett–Warner, Brian Vernel, Narges Rashidi, Asif Raza, and Valene Kane all reprise their roles from season one. Our critic called the first season one of Evans’s “…best accomplishments of his career to date.”

“Fleishman Is in Trouble”
Created by Taffy Brodesser–Akner and based on her novel of the same name, “Fleishman Is In Trouble,” is the latest FX on Hulu miniseries. With a strong cast led by Jesse Eisenberg, Claire Danes, Adam Brody, and Lizzy Caplan, the series follows a recently separated father whose life is upended when his ex-wife disappears. Directors include “Saving Faces” helmer Alice Wu, “Battle of the Sexes” director duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, and more. 
Release Date: The series premieres November 17 on FX on Hulu.
“Welcome to Chippendales” 
Kumail Nanjiani stars in the Hulu drama “Welcome to Chippendales.” Nanjiani plays Somen ‘Steve’ Banerjee, the founder of the Chippendales. Inspired by the book “Deadly Dance: The Chippendales Murders” by authors K. Scot Macdonald and Patrick MontesDeOca, the series is created by Robert Siegel, who wrote and created this year’s “Pam & Tommy.” The series, co-starring Murray Bartlett, Annaleigh Ashford, Dan Stevens, and Juliette Lewis, will follow the life and career of Banerjee. 
Release Date: Season one premieres November 22 on Hulu.
“Wednesday”
Following her roles in “X” and “Scream” this year, Jenna Ortega has become a formidable scream queen. In Netflix’s “Wednesday,” she plays the iconic character Wednesday Addams from “The Addams Family” as she navigates attending Nevermore Academy, mastering her psychic ability, and solving a killing spree and mystery that her parents were involved in 25 years ago. Developed by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Tim Burton, Catherine Zeta–Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Gwendoline Christie also star.
Release Date: Season one premieres November 23 on Netflix.
“Willow” 
As the latest Disney property to receive the spinoff treatment, “Willow” is a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. Warwick Davis reprises his role as the titular character, who must lead a group of six individuals as they set off on a dangerous quest in order to come together and save their world. Based on the characters by George Lucas and developed by Jonathan Kasdan (writer of “Solo: A Star Wars Story”), Ron Howard, who directed the ’88 film, acted as executive producer. Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, and more star along with Ralph Ineson and Christian Slater in undisclosed roles. 
Release Date: Season one premieres November 30 on Disney+.
Honorable Mentions: Elsewhere (or, more specifically, Netflix), there’s the return of coming-of-age romance “The Young Royals,” a Swedish teen drama that built a strong fanbase in its first season along with the premiere of the German series “1899,” on November 17, the latest from the creators of the sci-fi mystery “Dark.”
