It’s nutty to think just how fast FX’s dysfunctional kitchen drama “The Bear” ascended and how quickly it might just all end. Premiering on Hulu in the summer of 2022, “The Bear” literally seemingly came out of nowhere, wasn’t anticipated or known about, and wasn’t exactly heavily promoted in advance. But critics who got wind of it first knew immediately that the show sizzled with intensity and bruising emotional family baggage. By the end of the summer, when audiences finally had a chance to catch up and binge it all, the series became a bonafide word-of-mouth hit.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, “The Bear” centers on an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage the chaotic kitchen at his deceased brother’s sandwich shop.

Created by Christopher Storer, not much of a name beforehand, but in retrospect, a creator bubbling with promise, “The Bear” has made massive stars out of the show’s three leads: Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich. White’s career has already taken off; he led A24’s “The Iron Claw” and will play a young Bruce Springsteen in another upcoming A24 drama about making the legendary album Nebraska for director Scott Cooper. Moss-Bachrach is set to have a major role in Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four,” as the Thing and Edebiri have been in equally high demand, so much so that she had to drop out of Marvel’s “The Thunderbolts” because so many other offers were piling up waiting for the blockbuster to shoot.
It could all be coming to an end soon, though. As the cast became superstars, FX tried to catch them before they took off and announced that “The Bear” seasons three and four would be shot back-to-back. While nothing is official yet, it’s pretty clear that FX is trying to catch the cast as they can before their contracts are up and scheduling becomes a nightmare (and for what it’s worth, we’ve heard credible whispers that “The Bear” actually took a break, and won’t be shooting season three and four back to back, instead, taking a break before resuming early next year).

Season three of FX’s The Bear follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they do what it takes to elevate The Bear, their beef stand turned fine dining establishment, to the highest level, all while doing their best just to stay in business. It’s a losing battle every single day in the restaurant business. Carmy pushes himself harder than ever and demands excellence from his crew, who do their best to match his intensity.
Their quest for culinary excellence will propel the crew to new levels and stress the bonds that hold the restaurant together. As the team grows in size, each member will strive to reach a greater level of service within their role. In the restaurant industry, you’re never on solid ground, and with that ever-changing landscape comes new challenges and opportunities. Our chefs have learned that every second counts, but this season, we’ll find out if they have what it takes to make it to tomorrow.
 The half-hour series also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon in recurring roles. FX’s “The Bear” was Created by Christopher Storer, who acts as Executive Producer alongside Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, and Hiro Murai. Joanna Calo and Storer act as co-showrunners and direct most of the episodes. Courtney Storer serves as a Co-Executive Producer and Culinary Producer. The series is produced by FX Productions.
