The Series Season 4 Trailer Previews Series Finale

Jul 1, 2023

We’re All in this Together, at least until August 9, when High School Musical: The Musical: The Series final season arrives on Disney+. Based on the worldwide phenomena released in 2006 that completely changed the perception of musicals for an entire generation, the show premiered on the House of Mouse streaming platform in 2019, expanding the universe of East High. And now it’s coming to an end.

On Wednesday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the series will end its run with the upcoming fourth season, which debuts in less than two months. Disney+ also released the first trailer offering the first official look at the new episodes:

As it happened in the third film in the Kenny Ortega-directed trilogy, the Wildcats return from their summer vacation at theater camp to get through their last year of high school before life takes them their separate ways to go to college and fulfill their dreams.

On this occasion, students will recreate High School Musical 3: Senior Year as a musical, something that in fact also resembles the plot of the film, which had the original protagonists developing a musical about their own last year of school.

But a surprise announcement changes everything the kids have planned. High School Musical 4: The Reunion, a fictional movie created for the series, is being shot at East High. So the new generation of Wildcats will finally be included in the universe that started all in the first place.

Who’s Coming Back for the Final Season of the High School Musical Series?
Disney

Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed and Kaycee Stroh, members of the High School Musical cast will be playing themselves and getting into their characters Chad, Taylor, Ryan, Coach Bolton, Mrs. Darbus and Martha once again, being the returning cast members who will star in the fictional fourth installment of the franchise.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series stars Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, Dara Reneé, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, Kate Reinders and Liamani Segura will return for the final season too.

Kylie Cantrall, Matthew Sato, Caitlin Reilly and Vasthy Mompoint along with Mark St. Cyr, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein, Joe Serafini, Adrian Lyles and Saylor Bell Curda will be joining as supporting characters.

Rumors about Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, the main stars of the original film returning to play themselves and the beloved Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez have been around for awhile now, but no confirmation has been given about it. Although it would definitely be the biggest surprise the show could give to the fans.

Troy and Grabriella’s romance was the heart of High School Musical, but at the end of the day, it was a coming-of-age story about youth finding themselves and choosing their place in the world regardless of what people might think of what they want, even if it’s friends and family the ones that judge them the most. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series followed that same path, something that will also be the center in the final season.
