Travis Kelce Donates $100K to Two Girls Shot at Chiefs Parade – The Hollywood Reporter

Feb 20, 2024

Travis Kelce has donated $100,000 to a family whose two daughters were shot during the Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City, Mo., last week.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end posted two donations, for $50,000 each through his Eighty-Seven and Running Foundation, to the GoFundMe page for the Reyes family to benefit the recovery of their daughters, ages 8 and 10.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the donations.

The two girls sustained leg injuries in the mass shooting that occurred during the Valentine’s Day celebration for the Super Bowl LVIII champions.

“The girls were celebrating with many members of their family when they were senselessly injured,” reads the Reyes family’s GoFundMe page. “We ask that you continue to keep the family in your prayers as the girls work to recover. This fund will help provide vital financial support for their physical and mental recovery, any leftover funds will be saved for their college funds. All fund are being deposited into a bank account established just for the girls. Any amount is appreciated.”

At the time this story posted, the fund was nearing $200,000, nearly doubling the family’s $100,000 goal.

Two juveniles have since been charged in connection with the shooting that left 22 people injured, ranging between 8 and 47 years old.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a radio DJ and mother of two, was killed.

Kelce’s donation follows that of his superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who donated $100,000 to the GoFundMe page set up to benefit the family of Lopez-Galvan.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany Mahomes have visited the Reyes daughters in the hospital, NBC news reported, and a statement from the family noted that the two sisters will be in casts for several months after undergoing surgery to treat their wounds, but are making good progress in their recovery.

All of the Chiefs players, coaches and staff were safe and accounted for after the shooting. Following the attack, Kelce said on social media that he was “heartbroken” by what happened. “KC, you mean the world to me,” he posted on X.

Photos sparking backlash have since circulated of Kelce, alongside several teammates including Mahomes, celebrating at a bar following the parade attack. Swift was not in attendance for the parade, as she was in Australia for her Eras Tour.

GoFundMe has created a centralized hub to house all verified fundraisers related to the Kansas City shooting.
