Jun 6, 2023

We know we are deep into the trenches of the 2023 film festival season, but it is hard to believe we are already in June and preparing for the upcoming Tribeca. Much like all of the other festivals, there is something for everyone at Tribeca, regardless of genre preference, length, or country of origin. This year’s festival, which runs from June 7 to June 18, will feature 127 filmmakers from 36 different countries.

At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, beloved director Martin Scorsese debuted his newest film “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which was met with praise from all. While we loved the film, it’s time for Marty to step aside for Francesca (and “Crimson Ties”) to shine alongside other first-time filmmakers making their debuts.
With so many anticipated projects coming to this year’s festival, it can feel overwhelming to sift through and make a “to-be-watched” list. So, sit back and relax because we have taken care of that for you.
“The Adults”When what was supposed to be a short trip home turns into an unexpected extended stay, old wounds come to the surface. With Eric home, his sister Maggie is hoping to rekindle their childhood despite their complicated relationship. Written and directed by Dustin Guy Defa, “The Adults”  has been described as a personal and uplifting blend of humor and heartache. Eric and Maggie are played by Michael Cera and Sophia Lillis.
“Full Circle”Long-held secrets connecting multiple people and cultures in New York City are uncovered during a botched kidnapping investigation. The six-episode limited series has a star-studded cast, including Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Jim Gaffigan, Jharrel Jerome, Timothy Olyphant, and Dennis Quaid. “Full Circle” was directed by Steven Soderbergh for MAX. It will debut in July.
“The Line”Ethan Berger is making his feature narrative debut with his thrilling drama “The Line.” The story centers around Tom, a passionate fraternity brother who loves the connections and status that come with being involved in Greek life. When he a classmate from outside his normal social circle enters his life, his devotion to his frat begins to wane, which leads to a life-altering decision. The film looks at American traditions and loyalty to an institution through Tom. Starring Alex Wolff, Austin Abrams, Halle Bailey, John Malkovich, and Angus Cloud.
“He Went That Way” “He Went That Way” is an unusual take on the buddy comedy trope based on the true crime story of celebrity animal trainer Dave Pitts, the sole survivor of serial killer Larry Lee Ranes. Set in 1964, the film finds Bobby (Jacob Elordi) traveling along Route 66 with Jim (Zachary Quinto) and Jim’s beloved chimpanzee when the celebrity trainer picks up the serial killer turned hitchhiker. Directed by Jeffrey Darling.
“Maggie Moore(s)”Police Chief Jordan Sanders finds himself struggling with his personal life when he is tasked with solving a strange series of events that happen after two women of the same name are murdered just days apart. “Maggie Moore(s)” is a dark comedy with a stellar cast that includes Jon Hamm and Tina Fey. Fey and Hamm embody the tone of the film, which is a perfect match for director John Slattery.
