Tulleys Christmas Light Festival Review: A Film-Like Festive Magic

Dec 1, 2024

Brand new for 2024 is the Tulleys Christmas Light Festival and within seconds of entering you can leave the world behind and step into your very own festive movie where you are the stars in your own holiday adventure.

Taking 4 weeks to go from a pumpkin patch to a lights festival, the turnaround is short but the payoff is incredible as every single inch of this beautiful event at Tulleys Farm is covered in Christmas magic and wonder.
A variety of lights adorn the walkthrough experience and with a ski-lodge bar, a stage and an entertainment space with roaring fire pits there’s something very special and magical about these surroundings that I haven’t experienced in the UK before.
There are plenty of Christmas movies on the TV in the run-up to the big day, from Channel 5 flicks, Hallmark Christmas movies and even the tried and tested classics but there are not many events in the country where you can step inside the magic of these movies.

Every single time you watch a Christmas movie you know it’s fabricated, you know it’s mostly sets and decoration and 99% of these films aren’t even shot at Christmas time so it’s near impossible to replicate anything you’ve seen in those favourite festive movies of yours.
Until now.
Tulleys Christmas Lights Festival has the setting down to a tee, there’s an atmosphere around the place which just embodies Christmas and that’s not even including the Christmas indoor market it has before you leave the event selling a whole variety of goodies.
The zones are beautifully themed and there’s a whole variety of shows taking place as you walk around. There are light shows, water shows and even a fire show as you navigate this well-lit space.

One piece of advice I would give you is that you should wear flat shoes or boots. The terrain is rather muddy (it is part of farmland after all) so I’d highly recommend not wearing your best trainers or heels.
If all of that wasn’t enough there is a giant Observation wheel so you can look over the event but I found the perspex windows of the wheel cabins to be so filthy you couldn’t see a great deal out of them which defeated the object somewhat!
Tulleys are just a brand that gets it. They immerse people into their Halloween events every year at the main farm down the road (this event is located just a little further up from the main farm), they have some of the UK’s best escape rooms and now with a brand new event they already have one of the UK’s best Christmas walkthrough events.

Tulleys Farm delivers escapism of the highest order from stepping into your favourite genre of horror films to a variety of fun and festive delights there’s certainly an event here for all the family and the food and drinks on offer were lovely.
From BBQ to hot dogs, burgers, doughnuts and more there are some lovely things to sample before you enter and halfway around your walk. I highly recommend the marshmallows as you can toast them over the firepit and sit down in a little wooden chalet with a nice hot drink. We went for the Baileys hot chocolate with cream and my, oh my it was heaven!
If any drink embodies the spirit of Christmas it’s got to be a Bailey’s Hot Chocolate for me, I refuse to drink them at any other time of the year!

Ticket prices do vary but none of them are ever too expensive even on peak days. We were kindly invited down to provide a review but as always we are here to give our honest thoughts but I found myself hard-pressed to think of any negatives aside from the observation wheel’s dirty windows.
If you want to step inside your own festive movie and become a star in your own Christmas adventure then you can’t go far wrong with the Tulleys Christmas Lights festival.
