Wake the Tiger OUTERverse Review: Cosmically Transcendent
Feb 3, 2024
Bristol-based amazement park Wake the Tiger kindly invited us down to explore their new OUTERverse expansion and to bring you this Wake the Tiger OUTERverse review. Let me tell you this right now, it is an attraction that is NOT to be missed!
A whole 12 months in the making of this huge expansion sees the already impressive walkthrough attraction double in size and step up in every department of immersion and transcendence.
OUTERverse consists of an extra 1,000 sqm of walk-through fantasy and the immersion starts right at the end of phase 1 but instead of walking towards the previous Guild Hall you are now greeted with a train, themed to perfection in this dystopian world as you are about to begin your journey to the OUTERverse.
I can’t fathom what must be going on in the minds of the Wake the Tiger creators to get this attraction to the level of detail and immersion that it currently has. The artists who meticulously put their heart and soul into creating these masterpieces that put Hollywood sets to shame, completely alienate you from the outside world and you’re hook line and sinker when it comes to being one within the universe they have created.
Wake the Tiger is a beautiful experience to be a part of as you leave all of your worries, troubles and stresses at the door and are carried away into this new world which also faces the same concerns as our own but retold in a new way within this new landscape.
From a train to an Astral Tour Lounge the new OUTERverse expansion has a multitude of jaw-dropping moments, just in the expansion alone we spent over 3 hours exploring every inch and taking it all in.
I have to say my favourite parts of the experience were the tour lounge and the plane interior. Yes, they’ve added a complete interior of a real plane. With ‘Sortie’ written above the plane’s exit I’d hazard a guess that they’ve used an old Air France plane or similar for this particular expansion.
Where do you even go to get a piece of a plane?! I have no idea but these are the lengths that the creators have gone to when creating this masterpiece.
The interactions are more full-on, the sets are more vibrant and futuristic the second you start your journey to the Astral Plain and around every corner is another moment of disbelief as you question just how everything has been created.
I would pay good money to watch a making of series exclusive to visitors only. I’d be so interested to see how everything was created, what materials were used and how certain effects were achieved.
Art and creative design go severely underappreciated in every attraction up and down the country but here it feels like it deserves to be displayed, to be cherished, promoted and treasured. Every artist has put their heart and soul into this and I’d love to devote my time to watching how this new world was created and savour every second of the joy that would bring me.
The epicentre of the OUTERverse, Aetheria, promotes personal discovery. A giant head, aglow with projection mapping, visitors are invited to relax and explore multiple layers appealing to their curiosity and creativity. Celestial, immersive, cosmic and spiritual, visitors should expect to explore the spaces, before bracing themself for an exhilarating descent back to Earth 2.0 with a seven metre high twisting and turning slide descent back to reality.
What I will say about the slides, in particular, is make sure you cross your arms and your feet as you ain’t ready for the speed of those things! It said it was a wormhole and I laughed as it’s all part of the universe, oh no, they weren’t lying! I flew down at hyperspeed down each one of those two slides in the OUTERverse to the point where I don’t think I ever truly landed back down on earth!
Over 300,000 people have visited Wake the Tiger since they opened back in 2022 and this new expansion still had a few doors saying ‘Portal Coming Soon’ or similar, meaning that even now there’s still more to be added and deep down I hope they announce another expansion in the future.
I’d love for Wake the Tiger to keep building this indoor world of escapism to the point where we can live there, it’s so much more fun than the outside world!
Breathtaking visuals combine with cosmically transcendent beauty to cement Wake the Tiger as one of the best-themed and most immersive experiences in the country!
Upon a quick Google SEO search the term Wake the Tiger just isn’t searched enough and it should be, this attraction needs to be seen to be believed and it really deserves as many eyes on this as possible.
Usually when sites say they’ve been given free tickets to an event or experience you almost expect a glowing review as sadly that’s the world we live in today but those who know me and read this site know I’m brutally honest in every assessment.
Wake the Tiger phase 1 was so good that I paid multiple times to visit last year and whilst I was gifted a free visit before many press outlets (thank you so much by the way) I’ll be visiting many times more in the future paying out of my own pocket.
Escapism in an attraction is rare in the UK and these guys hit the nail on the head with it to perfection and knowing that many of the expansions materials are salvaged and recycled materials is all the more impressive.
This isn’t a ‘maybe I should visit this’ kind of attraction, Wake the Tiger and the OUTERverse are a ‘MUST VISIT’ attraction and you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t.
OUTERverse is art in its most immersive form and at times the level of detail was overwhelming and quite emotional. I really hope that anyone who visits appreciates and loves this place just as much as I did when visiting.
Walking around with absolutely no one there gave me a chance to soak it all in and appreciate every inch and I hope you guys head on down and do the same!
