Summary
Episode 9 of Survivor Season 45 had surprising events and tense tribal debates. The immunity challenge divided the tribe and led to an unexpected elimination. Episode 9 introduced a new twist into the game, taking away votes from three players.
This week’s episode has a series of surprising events like the previous one. Episode nine of Survivor season 45 starts with the tribe debating how it all went down at the last Tribal Council and with Jake in disbelief that he’s still in the play. He was happy about the new opportunity and decided to change his tactics moving forward. At the same time, Bruce is aware that the only reason why Kellie was voted out was because he had the Immunity Idol. Otherwise, his torch would be extinguished instead. However, he was shocked to hear that Kellie was the one who tried to vote him out in the first place, and he thought she was on his side all along.
In the meantime, Kendra is plotting against Dee and tries to ensure her eviction next. Austin is prepared to defend Dee and go after Kendra. The odds are in his favor since he’s got two Immunity Idols at his disposal. The following day started with tension in the tribe, and they did not try to hide it. Bruce slept on the beach and woke up with a sulky look. The information that Kellie considered him overbearing clearly hurt him a lot. Emily tries to ensure that Austin and Drew are on the same page as her and that Dee is next in line for eviction. However, Austin is still determining if he wants to see Dee go since he enjoys her company.
This episode proved that the odds are never entirely in anyone’s favor. The immunity challenge divided the tribe into three parts. Some contestants lost their right to vote, while others ended up in the sanctuary enjoying their reward. Ultimately, the episode ended with another tribe member leaving the island, so let’s see how it all went down.
Survivor 45 Episode 9 Recap
Survivor Release Date May 31, 2000 Cast Jeff Probst Main Genre Adventure Seasons 45 Studio CBS
The note came, and the tribe needed to be divided into thirds, which meant three groups of three people. Julie, Bruce, and Kendra formed one team; Drew, Jake, and Dee were in team two, and team three had Austin, Katurah, and Emily. When the teams were formed, the immunity challenge could begin.
Jeff welcomed the three teams and announced that the immunity was again up for grabs. The immunity challenge consisted of several stages. In the first stage, the tribe members needed to balance a ball on a disk while walking on a ramp and dig up three ropes from under a large pile of sand. The first two teams could move forward to the next stage. The last team to finish is out and loses the opportunity to win the immunity. The contestants needed to build a rope bridge in stage two and place three balls on hoops. The first group to finish moves on to the final round, and then, each contestant fights for immunity.

The third stage was an endurance challenge. Each contestant has their arms stretched out and their fingertips pressed against two wooden disks, and whoever holds their disks the longest wins and ensures a spot in the final eight. To make things even more interesting, Jeff revealed there is a reward involved, as there often is on Survivor.
The group that makes it to the final stage goes to the sanctuary to enjoy their prize – a roasted chicken. But, to add a bit of fuel to the fire, Jeffe revealed another surprise – the team that loses in the first round of the challenge also loses their votes at tribal council. However, they will get a chance to earn the votes back. This proves that, although a bit flawed, this season is filled with exciting twists.
The challenge began, and Austin, Katurah, and Emily finished the first stage last, dooming themselves to a fight to earn their votes back. Julie, Bruce, and Kendra won the next round and deserved their place in the final run for immunity. The third stage of the challenge drained them completely, but Bruce once again came out victorious, and the immunity necklace found its way back to him for the second time in a row. He was the first who made it to the top eight contestants. The final three then proceeded to the sanctuary and enjoyed a nice roasted chicken while debating between Jake and Dee to be voted out next.
Austin Earned Back the Right to Vote, and Another Suspenseful Elimination Followed
Austin, Katurah, and Emily journeyed to earn their votes back. The task was to solve a math problem before time ran out. Austin was the only one who got the answer right and got his vote back, which put Emily and Katurah in potential danger at the next Tribal Council. The contestants spent the last moments before the Tribal Council, as usual, discussing who needs to go, and Jake, Dee, and Kendra became this week’s villains.

Jeff welcomed the tribe to another Survivor tribal council. Kellie was unhappy seeing that Bruce won the immunity necklace again and still held a grudge against him. This council was special because no one knew how many people could vote. That automatically changed things because it took time to determine the best strategy. Austin, Katurah, and Emily confused the rest of the tribe with the status of their votes, so many questions were left open.
The tribe had spoken, and Jeff was ready to tally the votes. No one used an advantage or an idol this time. The first vote went to Jake, but then the tables turned. With four consecutive votes, Kendra was evicted, and her torch extinguished. She left without a word and a sour smile on her face.
